Abstract: An access control system for electric vehicle charging is provided that includes an access device, a secure reservation interface, a reservation server and a smartphone application installed on the smartphone. The access device includes a short-range wireless communication module connected to a processor having control of an electric vehicle charger. The secure reservation interface receives a reservation request for a reservation at a given destination. The reservation server receives the reservation request for the destination, issues a reservation certificate, and transmits the reservation certificate from the reservation server to a smartphone. The smartphone application has access to a short range wireless communication setting corresponding to the access device. The access device receives the reservation certificate from the smartphone application based on use by the smartphone application of the short-range wireless communication setting.

When a person exhales, exhaled air is expelled from a core mask to a first outer filter chamber using a first one-way check valve located between the core mask and the first filter chamber. The core mask creates a core chamber between the core mask and the person's face. The first filter chamber encloses a first volume of air and filters air that passes from the first filter chamber through the first filter chamber's wall. When a person inhales, air is drawn from a second outer filter chamber to the core mask using a second one-way check valve located between the core mask and the second filter chamber. The second filter chamber encloses a second volume of air and filters air that passes into the second filter chamber through the second filter chamber's wall.

Abstract: A method for range of motion (ROM) tracking, that determines with a ROM tracking system, an exercise identified by a caregiver to be performed by a subject by positioning a sensor of the ROM tracking system to allow the sensor to detect at least one movement by the subject during a performance of the exercise, and then detecting, through the sensor, at least one movement of the subject. The system further analyzes the movement by the subject to determine a range of motion of the at least one movement; recording through a user interface an indication by the subject of an experiential narrative; and finally, providing a report to the caregiver, where the report contains the results of at least one movement in conjunction with at least a portion of the experiential narrative.

Abstract: A system and method for wirelessly generating a roster of drivers and passengers in transportation vehicles. A driver's or passenger's smartphone can communicate using short-range communications with the vehicle, or a smartphone in the vehicle, so that the ID associated with the phone can be linked to a vehicle ID, date and time stamped, and stored in a log or database. Any unauthorized person can be refused admittance (by not permitting the vehicle to start or otherwise being denied the right to be a driver or passenger). A downloaded application is used for this purpose. The invention also can include a secure, remote database as well as a mobile device such as a smartphone running the application, a wireless receiver/transmitter in the vehicle, and a wireless communication network such as a cellular network.

Abstract: A multi-chambered mask separately filters inhaled and exhaled air. When a person inhales, air is drawn and filtered through a core mask into a core chamber. The core mask covers the nose and mouth of a person's face and creates the core chamber between the core mask and the person's face. When a person exhales, exhaled air is expelled from the person's mouth through to an outer chamber using a mouthpiece connected by a channel to a hole in the core mask. An outer mask covers a portion of the core mask and creates an outer chamber between the outer mask and the core mask for filtering air exhaled by the person. The mouthpiece is positioned near the person's mouth by the core mask, gathers exhaled air from the person, and directs the exhaled air from the person's mouth through the channel to the outer chamber.

Abstract: Light is transmitted through a finger in order to illuminate a vein pattern using a first optical illuminator located in a top portion of a pulse oximeter housing. The pulse oximeter housing includes the top portion for contact with a top of the finger and a bottom portion for contact with a bottom of the finger. The vein pattern is detected using a first two-dimensional image detector positioned in the bottom portion, producing a vein pattern image. Similarly, a fingerprint of the finger is illuminated using a second source device in the bottom portion. The fingerprint is detected using a second two-dimensional image detector in the bottom portion, producing a fingerprint image. The vein pattern image and the fingerprint image are combined, producing a combined image. The combined image is compared to one or more other combined images to identify the finger.
