  • Publication number: 20030183736
Abstract: A storage system, having in combination one singular shelf or multiple shelves infinitely adjustable on an upright member. The upright member is a singular support structure with at least three parallel grooves running longitudinally below a front face of the vertical support, the grooves having a continuous sectional profile and each groove opening in the front face through a channel. The shelf or shelves (6) are formed on a back side with at least three tongues (7), the tongues being integrally formed in the shelf and adjoining the back side through a neck portion (8). The tongues are insertable in the grooves while the neck portions occupy the channels. The neck portions are curved so that the tongues project upwards from the shelf upper surface at a slanting angle, such that the tongues are frictionally arrested in the grooves when the shelf is pivoted to bring the tongues to a tilted position in the grooves.

  • Publication number: 20030169032
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for detecting changes of magnetic response of at least one magnetic particle provided with an external layer in a carrier fluid, wherein the method comprises using a measuring method comprising measuring the characteristic rotation time of said magnetic particle with respect to said external layer, which measuring method involves measuring Brownian relaxation in said carrier fluid under the influence of an external alternating magnetic field. The method implies that upon modification of the effective volume of the particle or its interaction with the carrier fluid a hydrodynamic volume of the particle changes, which implies a change of the frequency (fmax) where an out of phase component of the magnetic susceptibility has its maximum.

  • Patent number: 6542482
Abstract: The present invention provides a method by which users may be moved between time slots or between base stations in order to better utilize the MCPA output power resources. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the power of all transceivers served by a certain MCPA is compared to a threshold value X. The value X is at least related to the capability of the MCPA in terms of output power. If at no times (i.e., at all time slots), the sum of the output power exceeds the threshold value X, it is assumed that the MCPA can handle all simultaneous transmissions. If, during at least one time slot it is found that the required output power exceeds the capability of the serving MCPA, then a reallocation or load sharing algorithm is invoked. The reallocation algorithm searches for time slots to which a reallocation could be performed within the same base station or number of transceivers served by the MCPA.

  • Patent number: 6535834
Abstract: A horizontal reference marker and method of using the horizontal reference marker to determine the exact position on the ground of a ground slot for a standard freight container. At least two horizontal reference markers are fixed to the ground or any substantially horizontal stacking surface and arranged in a known position relative to a ground slot on the ground. The horizontal reference markers are shaped suitable for detection by laser means mounted on container cranes. The advantage is precise and parallel positioning of a container placed on the ground, which ensures that container stacks have sufficient clearance between them and simplifies container handling.

  • Patent number: 6466797
Abstract: In a mobile telecommunication system the transmission quality is dependent on a wide range of radio conditions. A method for extracting a useful estimation of the radio environment of a mobile station in communication in order to predict how the radio conditions will change in the near future for a considered mobile station in the near future. A measurement report is sent from the mobile station to the base station. The quality measure in the measurement report is filtered over the area by a smoothing filter (220), and then processed through an updating filter (230) resulting in a time varying map (240). Several maps are classified (260). Classified data are grouped (270) resulting in the final map, which is stored in a database (280). The final map may be used to enhance the performance of radio network algorithms.

  • Publication number: 20020102984
Abstract: A method and apparatus provides for control of the quality of service for service groups by controlling the power of each service group. The carrier-to-interference requirements for which each service group achieves its minimum acceptable link quality is determined. The difference in carrier-to-interference requirements due to different requirements of fractions of satisfied users is compensated for. A power offset between the service group is determined using the compensated carrier-to-interference requirements.

  • Patent number: 6134230
Abstract: In a communication system, a link protocol for a transparent data between a mobile station and a base station is selected by pre-selecting from all possible combinations of available link protocols a set of pre-selected combinations of link protocols based on a predefined service requirement and at least one basic capability of the mobile or base stations. Then, the link protocol is selected from the pre-selected combinations of link protocols based on measurements of one or more link quality parameters and at least one variable restriction caused by instantaneous conditions in the communication system.

  • Patent number: 6122293
Abstract: A communication system supports multiple modulation/FEC coding schemes. One scheme is selected for initiating transmission on the link. The performance of the transmissions is evaluated after a variable update interval expires. The update interval is varied as a function of time, amount of information, LLC blocks, etc., in order to optimize throughput in the system. A shorter update interval can be used initially until an optimal modulation/FEC coding scheme is determined for a particular data transmission.
