  • Patent number: 8504268
Abstract: In a method for applying a parking brake of a vehicle depending on the roadway conditions, at least one electromechanical braking system has a parking brake and an operational brake function. An operational brake force is produced on each wheel to slow the vehicle down to a standstill. A parking brake force is generated on at least two wheels of the vehicle. The parking brake forces have an amount that corresponds to the total of the previous parking brake forces applied to all of the wheels and subsequently the stopping of the vehicle is tesste. When the vehicle is maintained in the stop position, the amount of the parking brake force on the at least two wheels is reduced and simultaneously, the service brake forces that are reduced by a certain amount corresponding to the parking brake forces are built up at least on the other wheels.

  • Patent number: 8146715
Abstract: A disk brake, in particular for a motor vehicle, is provided. The disk includes a rotatable brake disk, a brake caliper covering the brake disk, an actuator for applying an actuation force and a friction lining applicable to the brake disk by means of the actuation force, and a device for measuring the actual braking force. In order to obtain the more reliable and accurate actual braking force measurement, the device for measuring the actual braking force uses the elastic enlargement of the brake caliper in the form of a measuring parameter and comprises an element having a first end secured to the brake caliper and a second free end, wherein a gap is formed in the extension direction between the brake caliper and the element. The device for measuring the actual braking force produces a signal according to the actual measure gap width.

  • Publication number: 20100168979
Abstract: In a method for determining an electrical operating variable, in particular the air play (L) and/or zero position (N) of a brake (1) having a friction element (12) which can be pressed in at least two application directions (A, B) against the friction surface of an element (14) to be braked, the air play or the zero position can be determined in a simple and precise manner by virtue of the friction element (12) being placed into a first and a second point of contact (K1, K2) with the element (14) to be braked, the position x1, x2 of the contact points K1, K2 being detected by means of sensors, and the operating variable (L, N) which is sought being determined therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20090101453
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromechanical brake (10), especially for vehicles, which comprises an electrical actuator (18) producing an actuation force and acting upon at least one friction member (21) in order to force said member against a component (21) of the brake to be slowed down, thereby eliciting a frictional force. The invention also comprises a self-energizing system arranged between the friction member (21) and the electrical actuator (18). Said system comprises a wedge arrangement (11) that serves to self-boost the actuation force produced by the electrical actuator (18). The aim of the invention is to simplify said system in terms of design and control technology. For this purpose, the actuator (18) has a single electric motor (24) and the actuation force produced by it is released via a spindle/nut arrangement (30) having a rotationally received, stationary spindle (26) and a rotationally fixed nut (28) that can axially travel on the spindle by rotating the spindle.
