  • Patent number: 7007866
Abstract: A metering device for the conveyance of small substance quantities out of a reservoir into an application space by a diaphragm micropump that can be used, in particular, for the conveyance of small doses of gases includes the diaphragm micropump conveying an aromatic through a nozzle/diffuser system in fixed doses out of a reservoir first into a pump chamber and subsequently into an application space. As such, by the action of the diaphragm micropump, the volume and pressure of the pump chamber are varied so that aromatic is alternately drawn out of the reservoir into the pump chamber and pressed out of the pump chamber into the application space. In the event of a periodic change in the volume of the pump chamber, a substance located in the reservoir is, thus, conveyed slowly and in predetermined minimal doses into the application space in the course of time.

  • Publication number: 20040017150
Abstract: Apparatus for illuminating a sample plate (12) which is to be examined for example by fluorescent light excitation of the samples. This apparatus has a plurality of light-emitting diodes (15), which are arranged in an array and whose radiated light is guided in a homogeneous light field through an optical arrangement (19) onto a sample field (22). The intensity of the light field suffices in particular for generating a fluorescent light excitation of the samples (23), which can be determined by a CCD camera (29). This provides a cost-effective light source for generating a light field with sufficient intensity.

  • Patent number: 6353059
Abstract: The present invention relates to nonlinear-optically active copolymers which are composed of a chromophore acrylate, a glycidyl-functional acrylate, and a further acrylate unit, and to polyadducts produced from them by crosslinking with a carboxyl-functional polyester. The nonlinear-optical copolymers of the present invention, and the polyadducts prepared from them, possess an orientation stability in the crosslinked state, and a thermal stability, which makes them highly suitable for producing electrooptical and photonic components.

  • Patent number: 5914537
Abstract: A method for quickly controlling the output of a power plant having a turbo-generator set with a steam turbine and a generator, activates energy storage present during a plant process in order to set an additional generator output. In order to achieve a particularly effective control, fuzzy logic is used for the controlled activation of the energy storage. Fuzzy-logic rules from experience at the plant are used in this process. An apparatus for carrying out the method includes a fuzzy-logic system having inputs which include the additional generator output and an energy situation of the activatable storage, and outputs that specify desired setting values for the degree of activation of the individual energy storage.
