  • Patent number: 7601202
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing the carbon dioxide concentration in air of a closed or partially closed unit of space. The inventive method may comprise the steps of removing an air flow from the unit of space, guiding the air flow in a membrane system that may contain at least one membrane module having a CO2/O2 selectivity of greater than 2, removing the carbon dioxide permeated through the membrane, and returning the air flow that has been depleted of carbon dioxide in the membrane system to the unit of space. The inventive method may be optionally combined with an oxygen enrichment method. The invention also relates to corresponding devices for carrying out the inventive method.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 7, 2005
Date of Patent: October 13, 2009
    Assignee: Blue Membranes GmbH
Inventors: Andreas Noack, Jürgen Kunstmann, Christian Gnabs, Norman Bischofberger, Norbert A. Paul, Jörg Rathenow

  • Patent number: 7014681
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing flexible and porous adsorbents based on oxidic and/or non-oxidic ceramic material containing carbon. The inventive method is characterized by the following steps: (a) producing a flat base matrix whose constituents are held together essentially by hydrogen bridge bonds, on a machine suited for producing paper; (b) applying and/or impregnating the surface of the base matrix, on one or both sides, with polymeric addition agents; (c) treating the base matrix under pyrolysis conditions at an increased temperature in an atmosphere containing essentially no oxygen. The invention also relates to membranes that can be produced according to the aforementioned method, to flexible material that can be produced by using these membranes, and to their use for separating and purifying fluids.

  • Patent number: 4057576
Abstract: An improved process for isolating 2-hydroxynaphthalenecarboxylic acids from reaction mixtures of the alkali metal salts of the 2-hydroxynaphthalene with carbon dioxide had been found which comprises diluting with water the reaction mixture which contains the di-alkali metal salt of 2-hydroxynaphthalenecarboxylic acid and 2-hydroxynaphthalene, while keeping the mixture at a temperature of at least 80.degree. C, then adjusting the pH-value to about 6 to 7 by means of aqueous mineral acid, separating the lower phase at at least 80.degree. C, cooling the upper phase to about 15.degree. to 25.degree. C, separating the 2-hydroxynaphthalene, then adjusting the pH-value to about 1 to 2 by means of aqueous mineral acid and isolating the separated 2-hydroxynaphthalenecarboxylic acid.
