  • Publication number: 20180213561
Abstract: Described are mechanisms for eNB support of DRS in LAA, in which DRS is transmitted at one or more DRS occasions within a DMTC window, subject to LBT. In some embodiments, an eNB may include hardware processing circuitry comprising an antenna port, a first circuitry, a second circuitry, and a third circuitry. The first circuitry may be operable to determine a DMTC window of a wireless communication channel. The second circuitry may be operable to initiate one or more CCA checks through an antenna coupled to the antenna port prior to a DRS occasion within a DMTC time window. The third circuitry may be operable to initiate a DRS transmission through the antenna within the DMTC window upon a CCA check of the set of one or more CCA checks sensing that the wireless communication channel is idle. Also described are mechanisms for proactive support of DRS in LAA.

  • Publication number: 20180167165
Abstract: A wireless communication method for transmitting wireless signals from a transmitter includes receiving information bits for transmission, segmenting the information bits into a stream of segments, applying a corresponding forward error correction (FEC) code and an interleaver to each of the stream of segments and combining outputs of the interleaving to generate a stream of symbols, processing the stream of symbols to generate a waveform, and transmitting the waveform over a communication medium.

  • Patent number: 9930656
Abstract: Technology described herein relates to systems, methods, and computer readable media to enable a millimeter wave capable small cell (MCSC) devices to receive a handover of a user equipment from a universal mobile telecommunications system terrestrial radio access node B (eNB). In particular, systems and methods are described for user equipment (UE) association with a MCSC operating as a booster for an eNB in a time division duplexing (TDD) system, including identification of and communication on preferred cell sector between the UE and the MCSC. Protocols for concurrently performing a beam search and time and frequency synchronization for downlink communication are also described. Several sub-frame designs to facilitate these protocols are also described.

  • Publication number: 20180035303
Abstract: Disclosed in some examples are systems, machine-readable media, methods, and cellular wireless devices which implement a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) access scheme for a device operating according to a cellular wireless protocol in an unlicensed channel. A cellular wireless device may utilize the cellular wireless protocol in the unlicensed channel after the LBT access scheme has determined that a channel (a defined range of frequencies) in the unlicensed channel is idle for a particular period of time.

  • Patent number: 9794821
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate generally to a communication between a user equipment (“UE”) and an evolved Node Bs (“eNBs”) in a plurality of frequency bands. An eNB may transmit cross-carrier, cross-subframe scheduling information to a UE in a licensed frequency band. In response reception of the scheduling information, the UE may sense a wireless transmission medium to determine if the medium is idle. If the medium is idle, the UE may generate and transmit a request to reserve the medium in the unlicensed frequency band (e.g., a Clear-to-Send message). The eNB may transmit downlink data to the UE in the unlicensed frequency band. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 9774436
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can reserve shared spectrum between two wireless protocols upon the request from a tower. For example, an enhanced node B (eNB or eNodeB) transmits a message to associated UEs including a set of candidate UEs, a length of time to reserve, and a frequency band to use. UEs perform medium sensing on the specified spectrum if a UE finds its identifier in the set of candidate UEs. Candidate UEs transmit a clear to send (CTS) message with channel reservation information if the medium is idle. A result of the success or failure of the CTS transmission attempt is sent back to the eNB. Upon receiving the feedback information from the UEs, the eNB starts sending data to those UEs that sent the positive feedback on the channel reservation.

  • Patent number: 9775151
Abstract: Radio frame configuration circuitry for use in a device of a wireless communication system is provided. The radio frame configuration circuitry uses control circuitry to select between a plurality of different time-division duplex, TDD, configurations for a radio frame having slots with a configured duration. Transceiver circuitry performs TDD communications based on selections made by the control circuitry such that an average periodicity of switching between transmission of information and reception of information during the TDD communication is the same despite switching between different ones of the plurality of different TDD configurations. The radio frame configuration circuitry can be incorporated in a UE or an eNodeB or a Peer Radio Head. A corresponding method is provided.
