  • Patent number: 9259950
Abstract: A printing unit prints to a pre-folded substrate web. An intake unit is at an intake of a transport arrangement. A synchronization sensor is at the transport arrangement between an infeed roller and the printing unit. The synchronization sensor emits a synchronization signal when a fold of the web is present at the synchronization sensor for synchronization of a printing operation with feed of the web. A path between the synchronization sensor and a freely accessible point of the intake unit is designed such that a fold is present at the synchronization sensor when the printing substrate web has a fold at the accessible point. A relative humidity sensor is at the printing unit. A relative humidity measured by the sensor is compared with a relative humidity of an input stack. Given a deviation a length change of the web between the synchronization sensor and the accessible point is calculated, the web being displaced by the length change at the accessible point.

  • Patent number: 8523034
Abstract: In a device for supplying a printing substrate web to an internal transport path of the printing substrate web of a printing device, a device accepts the printing substrate web from the printing substrate web source. A drive unit is provided at an output of the device and draws the printing substrate web from the device. A buffer device having a buffer reservoir is provided at an output of the drive unit. The buffer reservoir has a negative pressure device that generates a negative pressure in a buffer reservoir. The negative pressure acts on the printing substrate web to pull the printing substrate web drawn by the drive unit into the buffer reservoir and thereby tensions the printing substrate web before it is supplied to the internal transport path.

  • Publication number: 20110020043
Abstract: In a device or method for drawing a web made of a printable substrate material in a printer or copier, the web is directed in a transport gap between a drive roller and a contact pressure roller. The drive roller is driven by a motor via an electrically controllable coupling. The coupling is controlled so that the web is charged with a predetermined draw force by the drive roller. A rotation of the drive roller is detected wherein, given a set operating state with a standstill of the web, the controllable coupling is controlled depending on the detected rotation so that a draw force of the drive roller is reduced until the drive roller comes to a standstill.

  • Patent number: 7466948
Abstract: A transfer printing station is provided with a transfer roller for transfer of a toner image generated on an intermediate carrier onto at least one recording medium in a transfer printing region of the transfer printing station. A drive unit causes the transfer roller to move towards the intermediate carrier as an ON position or away from the intermediate carrier as an OFF position, the drive unit being designed such that it is position-controlled when moving towards the ON position, and is torque controlled in the ON position.

  • Patent number: 7039350
Abstract: The invention relates to a transfer printing station for an electrographic printer or copier wherein the transfer is carried out by means of a transfer roller (5) that simultaneously forces a web of paper (8) against a photoconductor drum (1) in such a manner that no defective spots (data loss) or bright spots in scanning patterns, indefinite scanning patterns and horizontal stripes in scanning patterns occur on the paper web (8). This is especially important for the subsequent printers of a system of printers that have to print onto a paper that is stressed by the fixing station of the preceding printer. The transfer roller (5) is disposed in a swiveled support unit (4) that comprises, in addition to the guide of the paper web (8), transfer jaws (11) along the photoconductor drum (1). The inventive transfer printing station is especially suitable for use in printing systems with a plurality of printers or copiers.

  • Patent number: 6798431
Abstract: In a printer system composed of a plurality of printer devices, the speed of the recording medium to be printed and of the intermediate carrier in every printer device following a printer device is adapted to the changing dimensions of the recording medium. For example, the changes in the recording medium that occur due to the fixing of toner images on the recording medium and that lead to a degradation of the print image are considered in following printer devices.

  • Patent number: 6314265
Abstract: A printer or copier has a transfer printing station for electrostatic transfer of toner from a photoconductor to the recording medium. A pressure contact element is provided on the recording medium guide elements to ensure contact of the recording medium with the photoconductor during transfer. Supporting rollers of a slightly greater diameter than the pressure contact element are provided at each end thereof bearing on the photoconductor as spacer elements to define a minimum spacing between the pressure contact element and the intermediate carrier. The contact pressure element(s) may also be mounted on pivotable levers movable by an eccentric.
