    Abstract: The invention is directed to a new method for the production of a starch raw material for subsequently obtaining pure starch from wheat, rye, corn or barley. Fractions of starch which is damaged as little as possible are produced by means of roller grinding and sifting devices. The material is ground repeatedly and sifted with the system of advanced milling, wherein it is suggested in particular to guide the material two to five times via double-grinding stages without sifting between the double grindings. Sifting is effected subsequent to the double grinding. The invention also concerns a starch milling system which comprises two to five double-grinding passes with two grinding-roll pairs which are connected one after the other and are preferably constructed as an eight-roll mill.

    Abstract: In a method for setting the spacings of grinding rollers (2, 2') in roller frames (1) of a cereal milling plant, the roller frames are in each case followed by a screening system (14), from which a test signal is tapped and supplied to a computer (7), which compares it with a stored desired value and in the case of a variation brings about an automatic adjustment of the spacings of the grinding rollers by means of a control signal and adjusting means (4, 5). The test signal is only derived from the screen reject material (17) or screenings (18) of screening system (14) and is only supplied from certain selected key passages to computer (7). In a cereal milling plant for performing this method, a momentum weight measuring system (24, 29, 30, 31) for the continuous determination of the sifting work is associated with the gyratory sifter or sifters (14).

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for producing gluten and starch from a dispersion of wheat, barley or rye endosperm fractions in water. The raw grain is initially milled to produce endosperm fractions suitable for carrying out the subsequent steps of the process. The steps taken in the milling process include breaking the raw grain between a series of fluted rollers, sorting the bran from various grades of semolinas, sizing coarse semolinas by the cutting action of fluted, opposed rollers, pressing and impacting coarse and fine semolinas by a series of smooth, opposed rollers and dissipaters, and finally reducing the tailing from the pressing and impacting steps in a series of smooth or fluted rollers, and dissipaters.
