  • Patent number: 8943611
Abstract: A probe module includes a mount; a cantilever disposed on the mount; an electrode disposed on the mount and opposing the cantilever, and a primary fastener disposed on the mount to mechanically separate the cantilever and the electrode at a primary distance. In the probe module, the cantilever is detachably disposed on the mount, the electrode is detachably disposed on the mount, or a combination thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 18, 2014
Date of Patent: January 27, 2015
Assignee: National Institute of Standards and Technology

  • Patent number: 8380555
Abstract: The system monitors the activity of customers, agents, and industry experts in a network for new topics relevant to a business and the interests in those topics. A determination is made automatically if there is enough interest to warrant adding a skill. If there is not enough interest, the system continues to monitor for topics and interests. If there is enough interest, the system automatically projects a resource needed for a skill. The system monitors internal resources and the network to determine if the resource needed for the skill exists in an internal resource. If the resource needed for the skill exists in an internal resource, the internal resource is reallocated. If the resource needed for the skill does exist in the internal resource, the system monitors the network for an external resource that has the skill.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 2008
Date of Patent: February 19, 2013
    Assignee: Avaya Inc.
Inventors: Joylee E. Kohler, Christian Long, Jeffrey J. Olson, Doree Duncan Seligmann

  • Patent number: 5060888
Abstract: So as to temporarily connect two elements, such as an artificial satellite lengthening piece and the body of this satellite, a device is used including a holding mechanism (22) of any structure and a freeing member (20) made of a form memory material. The holding mechanism (22) normally applies a holding mechanical tension between the elements. When it is desired to free these elements, the freeing member (20) is heated by, for example, a heating resistor (28) or by using solar energy, until it reaches the transformation temperature of the form memory material. The disposition of the freeing member (20) is such that its change of form suppresses the mechanical holding tension and creates a positive allowance between the elements.
