  • Publication number: 20240001474
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to enable a stable welding process. This is achieved in that a welding device is supplied with a supply power by an energy source and converts at least a part of the supply power into a welding power in order to generate a welding arc, wherein the welding power is regulated by specifying a welding current. For this purpose, the supply voltage is determined, and the maximum supply current that can be delivered to the welding device from the energy source is specified. A maximum supply power is calculated using the supply voltage and the maximum supply current. The maximum welding power that is delivered by the welding device is determined from the maximum supply power, and the welding power is limited to the maximum welding power that can be delivered.

  • Patent number: 9729136
Abstract: In order to reduce the problems with sharp-edged control voltages of semiconductor switching elements, it is provided that the control terminal (6) of the semiconductor switching element (1) is connected to the output terminal (7) of the semiconductor switching element (1) via a ramp generation unit (5), and the ramp generation unit (5) flattens the sharply ascending and descending edges of the driver control voltage (VS) into the form of a ramp, in order to generate a transistor control voltage (VG) at the output of the ramp generation unit (5).

  • Patent number: 9481048
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for converting the energy of an energy storage (2) for operating an arc (6), wherein a power unit (3) and an input and/or output device (5) for setting the current for operating the arc (6) is used to convert energy, as well as an appropriate welding device. In order to be able to provide the user with information on the state of energy storage (2), the time remaining for operating the arc (6) using the set current is calculated depending on a determined capacity of the energy storage (2) and a value for the current set on the input and/or output device (5), and said time is displayed on a corresponding display unit (27).

  • Patent number: 9254534
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for converting the energy of an energy storage (2) for operating an arc (6), wherein in order to convert energy, at least one switch (9) of a step-down converter is switched on and off in a controlled manner, wherein said at least one switch (9) is connected to the energy storage (2) at the input end. In order to be able to supply as much of the limited energy available from the energy store (2) to the arc (6), it is provided that a synchronous converter is used as the step-down converter for operating the arc (6), and that the at least one switch (9) of the synchronous converter that is designed as a power unit (3) is connected to a snubber circuit (10) at the output end such that at least the switch (9) is switched on and off in an snubbed state.
