  • Patent number: 11279450
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed of a standup paddle (SUP) board comprising a substantially rectangular shape in outline and having a length dimension that is a whole number multiple of its width dimension. A plurality of link members are disposed at spaced-apart locations along the periphery of the board's deck. Each link member can function, in a first configuration, as a handle for the board; and, in a second configuration, as a linkup for connecting the board in abutting relation to one or more other adjacently located, similarly configured standup paddle boards. With a plurality of such boards connected proximate one another in a desired configuration via such links, an extended upper surface is provided that can serve as a substantially stable platform upon which one or more persons can engage in desired activities.

  • Publication number: 20220012565
Abstract: A reinforcement learning ranker can take into account previously-recommended media content items to produce a ranked list of media content items to recommend next. The ranker finds a policy that gives the probability of sampling a media content item given a state. The policy is learned such that it maximizes a reward. A reward function associated with the media content item can be defined with respect to whether the user finds the media content item relevant (likelihood that the user will like the media content item) and a diversity score of the media content item.

  • Patent number: 11204637
Abstract: A method and a gateway system for enabling adaptive power management. The gateway system is powered by a rechargeable battery that is coupled with a solar power source. A location reading indicating a location of the gateway system is transmitted at a first time. A solar profile is received from a management server. The solar profile indicates a measure of power expected to be generated at the location during an interval of time that occurs after the first time by the solar power source. The gateway system determines based on a current battery level of the rechargeable battery and the solar profile an optimal power usage plan for the gateway system and operates according to the optimal power usage plan during the interval of time.

  • Patent number: 11185237
Abstract: A method for calibrating a blood pressure monitoring system includes activating a reference monitor to perform a reference measurement of the blood pressure of a user as part of a calibration process. A wearable sensing device is activated to detect a parameter of user that is correlatable to the user's blood pressure. A processor of the user interface device processes the at least one parameter detected by the wearable blood pressure sensing device with reference to the reference measurement to determine a correlation factor that correlates the at least one parameter detected by the wearable blood pressure sensing device to the blood pressure of the user. The reference measurement includes an inflation phase, a measurement phase and a deflation phase. The processor is configured to only use the at least one parameter detected by the wearable blood pressure sensing device during the measurement phase in determining the correlation factor.

  • Publication number: 20210303936
Abstract: A cascaded machine learning inference system and method is disclosed. The cascaded system and method may be designed to be employed in resource restricted environments. The cascaded system and method may be applicable for applications that operate with limited power (e.g., a wearable smart watch). The cascaded system and method may employ two or more subsystems that are operable to classify an input signal provided by any number or types of sensors suitable for a given application. For instance, the sensors used may include gyroscopes, accelerometers, magnetometers, or barometric altimeters. The system and method may also be further split functionality across additional or new subsystems. By splitting operations and functionality across additional subsystems, the overall power consumption may further be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20210295150
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for classifying time-series data provided to a machine-learning model from a continuous sensor signal. The data may be “windowed” or “divided” into a smaller data segment using a first stage classifier where an “event of interest” may be identified. The first stage classifier may employ an algorithm that prohibits false negative identifications. The data segment detected as including an event of interest may then be transmitted to a second stage classifier operable to performs a full classification on the data segment. The multi-stage network may require less power and a less complex structure.

  • Publication number: 20210248173
Abstract: An electronic device stores a plurality of vector representations for respective media content items in a vector space, where each vector represents a media content item. The electronic device receives a first set of input parameters representing a previous session of a user of the media-providing service where the previous session included two or more of the respective media content items. The electronic device then receives a second set of input parameters representing a current context of the user and provides the first set of input parameters and the second set of input parameters to a neural network to generate a prediction vector for a current session. The prediction vector is embedded in the vector space.
