  • Publication number: 20240102420
Abstract: An apparatus for an aircraft includes an electric machine and a gas turbine. The gas turbine includes a compressor, a turbine unit having a high-pressure turbine and a low-pressure turbine, and a combustion chamber. The compressor is connected via a high-pressure shaft to the high-pressure turbine, and the low-pressure turbine is connected via a low-pressure shaft directly to an output shaft of the electric machine. The high-pressure shaft and the low-pressure shaft are rotatable in different directions. The electric machine is operable as a generator and may be operated as a motor to start the gas turbine. The output shaft is connected via a gear box unit and a free-wheel to the high-pressure shaft. The free-wheel separates the connection between the output shaft of the electric machine and the high-pressure shaft in the presence of a torque flow from the high-pressure shaft in a direction of the output shaft.

  • Publication number: 20160047248
Abstract: A composite fan blade for a gas turbine engine, the blade comprises a root portion for connecting the blade to a hub and an aerofoil portion. The aerofoil portion comprises an external cover formed from a non-metallic material and an internal structure enclosed within the cover. The internal structure comprises a plurality of support members extending generally from a pressure side of the internal structure to a suction side of the internal structure, and wherein the plurality of support members define a plurality of cells or channels.

  • Patent number: 8408008
Abstract: A scoop for a fairing 1 of a core engine 2 of an aircraft gas turbine allows air to be supplied from a bypass flow in a bypass duct 3 to several cooling-air distributors in a core-engine ventilation compartment 4. The scoop includes a first tubular flow duct 5, whose inlet opening 6 is arranged in the bypass duct 3 and which extends through the fairing 1, as well as a second tubular flow duct 7, which at least partly encompasses the first flow duct 5 and whose inlet opening 8 is rearwardly offset relative to the inlet opening 6 of the first flow duct 5 in the direction of flow.

  • Patent number: 5828791
Abstract: In a method for storing and playback of a repertoire of fixed videotexts, in which the videotext is stored by characters in digital form in an electrical memory, the quantity of the data to be stored can be effectively reduced in that in addition to the characters, position characters are stored and that for recurring, identical character sequences of greater length, instead of the character sequence, a reference to the location of the already stored character sequence is stored. The playback of the thus compressed texts can take place without problems in real time, i.e., without noticeable delay.
