Patent number: 10829918Abstract: A system and related method for touchless control of an aircraft lavatory water supply is disclosed. An aircraft lavatory touchless manifold includes dual solenoid powered water valves opening and closing to regulate water flow through each of a cold conduit and a hot conduit as commanded by user touchless input to a manifold microcontroller commanding the valves. An aircraft input commands a temperature range while a thermal sensor in a mixed water conduit provides output temperature feedback to the manifold microcontroller for positive control of the output temperature. The manifold microcontroller commands opening and closing of the dual solenoid powered valves to create a ratio of opening time between the valves. The solenoid powered valves provide a cost effective and reliable solution offering efficient linear valve operation and effective temperature and flow control.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2019Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: B/E Aerospace, Inc.Inventors: Christina Ortolan, Yen Chuh, Thao Hoang

Patent number: 10266268Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for disposal of liquid and food into a sink basin. The disclosed system cooperates with and delivers the received waste material to the main waste system on-board the vehicle. This is typically an aircraft waste tank. The system does not require a manual flush, but includes a sensor system that activates drainage of the holding line when the liquid and/or other waste material reaches a certain level therein. The disclosed system combines the functionalities of a common galley sink and a galley waste disposal unit, but occupies only the space envelope of an existing galley sink. The use of an existing galley sink means that no additional space on the countertop is required.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2017Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: MAG Aerospace Industries, LLCInventors: Razmik B. Patent number: 10214289Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a grey water flush system for use with vacuum toilets. One embodiment of the system provides a two-stage flush that uses a transient tank in between the toilet bowl and the main aircraft waste tank, which reduces the noise level associated with the flush process because a lesser vacuum is demanded for the first stage of the flush. Embodiments of the system further capture grey water from a sink basin in a reservoir and use that water in the toilet flush process. There is further provided a lavatory odor removal system option that is activated during the second stage of the flush.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2017Date of Patent: February 26, 2019Assignee: MAG Aerospace Industries, LLCInventors: Razmik B. Patent number: 9902497Abstract: A method of removing wastewater contained in a water retention tank of a grey-water management system for an aircraft toilet. The method removes the wastewater via a diaphragm pump having an undulating diaphragm. The diaphragm pump includes an inlet pipe connected to the retention tank, the diaphragm of the pump is actuated by electromagnetic or magnetic actuation so as to remove wastewater present in the retention tank through the inlet pipe of the pump to an outlet pipe of the pump.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2015Date of Patent: February 27, 2018Assignee: MAG Aerospace Industries, LLCInventors: Razmik Boodaghians, Kevin Huang, Christina Ortolan

Patent number: 9869079Abstract: Embodiments of disclosure provide an intermediate accumulator that can receive and hold water prior to its delivery to a vacuum toilet or other water-using source. The pump required to move water from the reservoir to the intermediate accumulator can be much lighter and smaller than pumps previously required in systems that do not use an intermediate accumulator. Providing an intermediate accumulator can provide a more constant flush by holding the pressure inside the accumulator more constant, by equalizing the pressure, and by lowering the total volume required per flush. The accumulator can store energy in the water and deliver it to a water-using source using less energy and requiring less volume.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2015Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: MAG Aerospace Industries, LLCInventors: Razmik B. Patent number: 9540107Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system to direct water flow through a lavatory and to cleanse grey water through a series of treatment steps. The water may then be re-directed to the faucet for re-use in hand washing or other potable water use or to the toilet for flush water. The treatment steps are altered, depending upon the ultimate use of the water, as flush water need not be treated to the same level as potable water. The system may also function via a cascade of logic commands given by a series of electronic controllers, valves, and sensors which are fine-tuned to supply enough water to each component of the system.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2013Date of Patent: January 10, 2017Assignee: MAG Aerospace Industries, LLCInventors: Razmik B. Patent number: 9458028Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a filtration system that can be used to filter debris-laden water and to systems for cleaning the filtration system using a vacuum flush system to create a backwash flow through the filter of the filtration system. The filtration system described finds particular use on-board passenger transport vehicles that have a vacuum waste system, such as aircraft. The filtration system provides the ability to collect, treat, and reuse liquid resources in an environment with a vacuum waste system.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2013Date of Patent: October 4, 2016Assignee: MAG Aerospace Industries, LLCInventors: Razmik B.
