Patent number: 9272438Abstract: A guide bar for a chain saw has an elongate main body of steel. The main body has flat sides and upper and lower peripheries defining a guide groove for a saw chain. An elongate window is formed in the main body between the peripheries and is filled with an insert made of a fiber composite material made up of resin and fibers. The fibers are in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the main body. The insert includes a plurality of fiber layers that are bonded with resin. A central layer is formed from a fiber layer and the fibers thereof are at an angle to the longitudinal axis. Two fiber layers having fibers oriented in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the main body are on both sides of the central layer. The inner fiber layers are covered outwardly by a woven fabric.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2014Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KGInventors: Helmar Amend, Christoph von Hiller, Alexander Fuchs, Christine Rominger, Matthias Schulz, Jonas Lank, Klaus-Martin Uhl

Patent number: 8697209Abstract: A plastic body is configured as a tubular-shaped hollow body in a mid region thereof. The tubular-shaped hollow body is closed off by respective solid bodies at first and second ends. A displacement body, which is arranged at the transition from the hollow body to the first solid body, is arranged at the first end of the tubular-shaped hollow body. A hollow space, which extends between the tubular-shaped hollow body and the second solid body, is formed at the second end of the hollow body. For a production system for making an at least partially tubular-shaped plastic body in an injection molding process, the cavity has an elongated configuration with a first end and a second end and an injector nozzle is arranged between the ends of the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2012Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KGInventors: Markus Glissmann, Christoph von Hiller, Patrick Friessem

Patent number: 8215278Abstract: An internal combustion engine having a cylinder, a fuel-supply mechanism, and an elastic connector for connecting the fuel supply mechanism to the cylinder. The connector has a first channel for fuel/air mixture and a second channel for combustion air. The connector has a first connection end and a second connection end at which the two channels open out. The two channels are separated from one another by a partition that extends in the longitudinal direction of the channels. The partition is twisted about its longitudinal central axis between the first and second connection ends to achieve a great elasticity of the connector. To produce the elastic connector, a respective core is used for each channel, and the cores are moved relative to one another to enable removal of the connector from a mold.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2009Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignee: Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KGInventors: Stefan Kummermehr, Stefan Richter, Thomas Techow, Viktoria Schmidt, Christoph von Hiller, Ralf Steidinger, Eberhard Bohnaker, Manfred Rabis
