Patent number: 10255795Abstract: A method of identifying incidents using mobile devices can include receiving a communication from each of a plurality of mobile devices. Each communication can specify information about a detected sound. Spatial and temporal information can be identified from each communication as well as an indication of a sound signature matching the detected sound. The communications can be compared with a policy specifying spatial and temporal requirements relating to the sound signature indicated by the communications. A notification can be selectively sent according to the comparison.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2018Date of Patent: April 9, 2019Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Christopher C. Couper, Neil A. Katz, Victor S. Moore

Publication number: 20180357578Abstract: The present invention discloses a solution for storing and depicting complex non-contiguous organizations that are subject to situation-based restructuring. Different views for organization charts of the organization can be generated, where the generated organization charts are collapsed to a minimal view which automatically hides at least a portion of the organization positions in accordance with a desired view. For example, a view showing only filled positions will hide unfilled positions, collapsing intermediate nodes of a shown hierarchy so that child nodes of a hidden node are directly connected to the parent node of the hidden node. A set of indexed database tables can be used to efficiently store details of the organization. The indexed tables can store positions, assignment, and position reporting details in separate 3NF tables. The solution can be integrated to a commercial off-the-shelf command management system and/or to a commercial off-the-shelf front-end charting application.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2018Publication date: December 13, 2018Inventor: Christopher C. Couper

Patent number: 9094425Abstract: Within an electronic messaging system, a method of backing up data can include storing attributes for a plurality of message attachments exchanged through the electronic messaging system. Responsive to a request for a message attachment from a requestor, the request can be compared with attributes of the plurality of message attachments to select at least one message attachment matching the request. The method further can include determining whether the requested message attachment is available within the electronic messaging system and performing a programmatic action according to at least the determining step.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2005Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Christopher C. Patent number: 8131210Abstract: A method (200) of dynamically deploying wireless repeaters in a communication network can include establishing (205) a first wireless repeater serving as a communication node, evaluating (210) quality of a signal dynamically among at least one additional repeater being deployed in the communication network and the communication node, and selectively entering (215) a vertical unit in one of the additional repeaters being deployed. Evaluating the quality can include measuring (211) a signal strength from other repeaters in the communication system or measuring (212) a signal strength from a nearest repeater among the other repeaters in the system. Evaluating can also include pinging (213) the communication node. The vertical units can be entered as an input using any number of input devices including, but not limited to a keypad, a rotary switch (22 and 24), a voice recognition system or any combination thereof.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2009Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Christopher C.
