The connector further includes a first and a second fusible element attached to the respective first and second contacts. The first portion of the major surface is recessed so that the first fusible element is spaced apart from the housing.

    Abstract: A bridge and cable harness assembly to protect bus bar apparatuses from foreign object exposure and further, electrical shorts. The assembly provides an apparatus that is configured based on the specific arrangement of the bus bar. The user determined how many bridge assemblies are necessary to protect the bus bars. The bus bars and bridges are secured to each other either by apertures in bus bars that accepts protrusions of bridges which are heat staked, or where the bus bars are overmolded into the insulative bridge material. Screws are used to make a final assembly into the board-mounted connectors.

Diodes are surface-mounted on a printed circuit board inside of the connection box. An optional metal plate may be mounted inside the cover plate of the connection box as a heat sink for dissipating heat from the diodes. The metal in the plate has good thermal transfer characteristics, e.g., copper or aluminum.

    Abstract: Methods for setting contact height in an electrical connector are disclosed. Each of a plurality of electrical contacts may be seated in a connector housing such that each contact has a respective initial height relative to the housing. At least one of the contacts is pressed on such that, after the pressing, each of the contacts has approximately the same height relative to the connector housing. The pressing may bend the at least one contact at least until it has set. Before the pressing, the initial contact heights have a first tolerance. After the pressing the pressed contact heights have a second tolerance that is smaller than the first tolerance. The pressing operation bends the contacts to a point that exceeds the yielding limit of the contact material, and may deform the contacts such that the several contacts have about the same contact height relative to the connector housing.

    Abstract: A solar grounding connector for capturing a wire. The connector includes a base and a stuffer. The base is made from a conductive metal and includes a base plate. The base plate includes means for assembling the base to a solar panel. A pair of opposed sidewalls extend at an angle from the base plate, each sidewall including a slot of preselected size. The stuffer is pivotably mounted to the base. The stuffer includes a top surface, and a pair of opposed sidewalls extending from the stuffer top surface toward the base plate. Each stuffer sidewall has a slot corresponding to the slot in the base sidewall, each opposed stuffer sidewall being adjacent to a base sidewall when engaged. The slot in the stuffer sidewalls urge a wire against the corresponding slots in the base sidewalls, exerting a force on the wire sufficient to establish electrical contact between the wire and the base. The grounding connector also includes means for fastening the stuffer with respect to the base.

    Abstract: A connector having a contact including a dual-tabbed wire trap is disclosed. The wire trap includes a first wire retention tab and a second wire retention tab, wherein the wire retention tabs are biased toward one another at an angle to form a wire guide. The wire guide is configured to contact and receive a wire inserted into the wire trap. When the wire is inserted, the first and second wire retention tabs impart a clamping force to retain the wire in the wire trap and prevent its removal. According to one embodiment, the connector is a photoelectric connector for attaching a street lamp or other electrical device to a photoelectric cell.
