At least one adjustable fluid barrier is included in the tubing hanger and/or the cap. The adjustable fluid barrier can be used to open and close the longitudinal passage and allow access through the tubing hanger and/or the cap.

The base is elastically deformable and the rims are elastically deformable relative to the base to effect a self-energized seal between the two annular surfaces.
