Abstract: A method and system of additively manufacturing parts using a getter device is disclosed. Specifically, provided herein are methods and systems of using a getter device in a sintering atmosphere furnace for consistently and repeatedly sintering additively manufactured machined quality parts, such as, for example, titanium parts.

Abstract: Plant eradication and stressing of plants using illumination trauma where a dual component, low energy, unnatural set of irradiances is applied, with no mutagenic or high radiative energy transfers in any wavelength for eradication by severe scalding, heat shock, or incineration. Two radiations are applied: an Indigo Region Illumination Distribution that can extend from 300 nm to 550 nm to be directed to plant foliage and/or a plant root crown, and a Medium Wavelength Infrared distribution of light, ranging from 2-20 microns wavelength to be directed to the ground, to a plant root crown and/or soil immediately adjacent the root crown. Plants can include seeds, and seedlings, and biomass can be irradiated to control weed seeds such as from a combine. The Indigo Region Illumination Distribution can pass through the MWIR emitter to form a compact illuminator. The MWIR emitter can comprise borosilicate glass at 400 F to 1000 F.

Abstract: A minimalist wallet is provided. The minimalist wallet includes a frame with an embedded magnetic material. A first band and a second band are attached to the frame. A securement mechanism is attached to the second band. The securement mechanism includes a magnet that is magnetically attachable to the embedded magnetic material. Alternatively, the frame may include the magnet that is magnetically attachable to a magnetic material embedded in the securement mechanism. The minimalist wallet is configured to retain receipts, coupons, credit cards, debit cards, and/or paper money, among others.

Abstract: A search system includes a query processing device for processing a search query and a search server. The search server receives a search request with a search query and sends the search query to the query processing device via an application programming interface (API). Upon sending the search query to the query processing device, the search server determines whether an indication is received from the query processing device, the indication indicates that the search query does not trigger category-specific search results. In response to determining that the indication has not been received: the search server waits to receive the category-specific search results that correspond with the search query. The search server aggregates the category-specific search results with the general purpose search results, and transmits the aggregated search results. In response to determining that that indication has been received, the search server generates and transmits the general purpose search results.

The method involves subjecting an aqueous, polyol product mixture (from the hydrogenolysis conversion of biologically-derived carbohydrate feedstock) to ion-exclusion chromatography to separate and reduce impurities from an eluant fraction containing a desired product, and distilling the eluant fraction to yield the desired product (e.g., propylene glycol or ethylene glycol). The reaction product mixture can be introduced into a continuous ion-exclusion chromatography system to reduce the impurities and produce in a high-throughput manner a finished otherwise commercially acceptable glycol product.

Abstract: Processes are described for producing furfural from a mixture of pentoses and hexoses, by dehydrating and cyclizing pentoses to provide furfural using a water-soluble acid at elevated temperatures in the presence of a low-boiling, water-immiscible organic solvent, such as toluene, which is effective for extracting the furfural into an organic phase portion. In certain embodiments, a fermentation step occurs prior to the dehydration step to convert hexoses in the mixed pentoses and hexoses to ethanol while conserving pentoses therein for making furfural.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cooling electronic components are disclosed herein. Certain aspects of the invention are directed toward an electronic system that includes an electronic module having a container with at least two openings and multiple manufactured electronic components carried in the container. The electronic module is configured to operate reliably at or above a maximum manufacturer's suggested first ambient temperature while still maintaining the first suggested operating core temperature of the internal electronic module. The system further includes a duct in fluid communication with at least one of the openings and an exterior flow device coupled to the duct.
