  • Patent number: 8533892
Abstract: The mode selection system for a power toothbrush includes a first switch (25) operable to control the ON/OFF condition of the toothbrush and a second switch (29) operable when the first switch is in the OFF condition to select one of a plurality of possible modes of operation programmed in the toothbrush. A pre-established time is set during which the ON/OFF switch must be operated to an ON condition after the mode selection switch has been operated to select a particular mode. The selected mode is indicated by a lit LED on a handle portion of the toothbrush.

  • Publication number: 20090052721
Abstract: The combined charge coil and audio speaker coil assembly (30) includes a single coil (32) which acts as a charging coil for a battery charging circuit and as an audio speaker coil, in a personal care appliance. An audio speaker membrane (42) is mounted to produce audio sounds when activated. A magnet (40) is included for the audio speaker and the single coil is mounted to the speaker membrane for driving the membrane in response to a drive signal. Electrical con- tact members (50, 52) for the coil are connected to receive a driving signal to move the membrane to produce an audio sound and to a recharging circuit (34) for recharging of the appliance batteries (16).

  • Patent number: 7373182
Abstract: A wireless mobile phone is provided with an input-output interface and an output interface. The input-output interface may be employed singularly to facilitate removable attachment of a telephony headset to the phone to receive at least telephony audio signals from the phone, and to provide audio signals to the phone. Similarly, the output interface may be employed singularly to facilitate removable attachment of an audio output only headset to the phone to receive at least a selected one of telephony and non-telephony audio signals from the phone. However, the input-output interface and the output interface may also be used jointly to facilitate removable attachment of a two-plug headset to the phone to receive at least a selected one of telephony and non-telephony audio signals from the phone, and to provide audio signals to the phone.

  • Publication number: 20020135477
Abstract: A locking system for a loaded handgun that prevents the handgun from being removed from a housing until a combination lock is unlocked. The housing is constructed of a material such as steel or a high impact resistance polymer, capable of preventing penetration of a slug fired by the handgun. The combination lock is either an illuminated keypad or a bio-metric sensor. In one embodiment, the combination lock actuates a locking member that prevents the handgun from being removed and extends behind the trigger, so that the handgun cannot be fired. In another embodiment, the combination lock secures a locking member in a position that prevents a holster containing the handgun from being pivoted outside an internal cavity within the housing. While the handgun and holster are locked inside the internal cavity, the handgun cannot be withdrawn from the holster. When the proper combination is entered, the locking member releases the holster, and a spring element pivots the holster free of the internal cavity.
