  • Patent number: 7718253
Abstract: A prefabricated cover board has a high-density polymer or predominantly polymer material core layer having a density between 6 lbs/ft3 and 25 lbs/ft3. A prefabricated roofing panel composite includes the cover board and an insulation board that has a low-density polymer or predominantly polymer material foam core layer having a density less than 6 lbs/ft3. The cover board may have a waterproofing membrane forming the top major surface of the cover board. When making the roofing panel composite, the low-density foam core layer of the insulation board may be formed with the high-density core layer of the cover board being currently or subsequently formed over and bonded to a top major surface of the low-density foam core layer in the same operation or preformed insulation boards may be fed into a production line with the high-density core layer of the cover board being formed over and bonded to top major surfaces of the low-density foam core layers of the insulation boards.

  • Patent number: 7607271
Abstract: A prefabricated multi-layer roofing panel is utilized in a roofing system for low-slope roofs. The prefabricated roofing panel includes: an insulation layer that may have a self-adhering means on its bottom major surface for securing the roofing panel to a roofing substrate; a cover board that overlies and is bonded to the insulation layer, and a waterproofing membrane that overlies and is bonded to the cover board. The waterproofing membrane may have waterproofing membrane overlaps for overlapping and being bonded to the waterproofing membranes of other roofing panels in the formation of a roofing system. Preferably, the insulation layer includes interlocking structure for interlocking the prefabricated multi-layer roofing panels together in the roofing system.

  • Publication number: 20090022924
Abstract: Provided is a patch for a roofing membrane and a method of applying same. The patch is comprised of a substrate compatible with the roofing membrane, which has encapsulated adhesive on the side to be applied to the roofing membrane. When the patch is applied to the roofing membrane with pressure, the adhesive, encapsulated in cells, is released upon rupture of the cells. The patch is thereby easily and quickly applied to effect a desired seal or repair.

  • Patent number: 6009843
Abstract: Lightweight, strong, engine valves that incorporate a valve stem made from a refractory monofilament-reinforced, titanium-based metal matrix composite. Advantageously, the composite of the present invention is sufficiently strong so that valve stems incorporating the composite can be hollow for providing significant weight reduction while meeting valve stem strength and stiffness specifications. The valve includes a valve stem comprising a first end, a second end, and EL longitudinal axis extending from the first end to the second end. The valve stem comprises a composite incorporating a titanium-based metal binder matrix and an axially aligned cluster of continuous, refractory monofilaments incorporated in the binder matrix. A valve head is provided at one end of the valve stem, and a valve tip is provided at the other end. The invention also relates to a method of making such valves. The invention further relates to a composite assembly from which such valves may be machined.

  • Patent number: 5129566
Abstract: An ampoule holder comprises a body part 1 and a head part 2 which are connected together by a pair of hinge strips 3 and a breakage link 4. A glass ampoule 7 is inserted, stem first, through an opening 6 in the base of the body portion 1. The body of the ampoule is forced past inwardly extending projections 8 until the lower end of the ampoule snaps past these projections and the shoulder at the top of the body of the ampoule 7 abuts against the curved hinge parts 3. The base of the ampoule will then be raised above the projections 8. The stem 10 of the ampoule is gripped within the head portion 2 of the holder by internal ribs or spines 11, so that the neck 9 of the ampoule is aligned with the breakage link 4.

  • Patent number: 4501104
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing cover attachments to the plastics couplers of multipacks of containers, comprising conveyor means for transporting a succession of the multipacks along a generally horizontal path, a reservoir for a plurality of the blanks, an applicator device operating in timed relation to the conveyor means to place blanks for the cover attachments individually upon the multipacks moving along the conveyor means so that tabs, which extend out from the plain portion of each blank, are disposed laterally in relation to the conveyor path and, along each side of the conveyor path, heating means for directing hot gas onto the tabs and onto the lateral surfaces of the coupler so as to render them heat-sealable together. The apparatus further comprises folding means for folding the tabs downwardly and pressure means for holding the tabs against the coupler to heat-seal the coupler and cover attachment together.

  • Patent number: 4471623
Abstract: An attachment arrangement in a combustion chamber of a gas turbine powerplant, having a double wall structure formed by a separate combustor shell and at least one floatwall panel, includes a pair of hook-like projections protruding from the panel and through the shell and a pair of thin plates for interengaging the hook-like projections on one side of the shell opposite to the other side thereof which faces the panel. Each of the hook-like projections has an outer portion spaced from the one side of the shell and extending generally parallel thereto. Each of the plates is tapered in cross section for adapting each plate to be fitted in a wedged condition between the outer portion of one of the projections and the one side of the shell to retain the panel in a desired predetermined position adjacent to the shell. Also, the plates are rigidly connected to the shell and to one another.
