  • Patent number: 8516721
Abstract: An article of footwear that includes a sole defining a bending feature (e.g., a groove) between a phalanges portion and a metatarsus portion of the sole. The bending feature allows the phalanges sole portion to articulate upward with respect to the metatarsus sole portion. An upper is attached to the sole and defines a foot void for receiving a human foot. The upper has a phalanges portion that defines at least one toe receiver volume. The at least one toe receiver volume defines a raised shape with respect to an adjacent metatarsus portion of the upper. Articulation of the phalanges sole portion and substantially unrestricted toe lift movement into the at least one toe receiver volume allows substantially unrestricted upward toe flexion of a received foot in the foot void.

  • Publication number: 20130019497
Abstract: A footwear sole assembly that includes a midsole, a strike pad disposed on the midsole in at least a heel region of the footwear sole assembly, and an outsole disposed on the strike pad. A heel top surface of the footwear sole assembly is elevated between about 4 mm and about 12 mm above a forefoot top surface of the footwear sole assembly.

  • Publication number: 20120180335
Abstract: A footwear article includes an upper assembly attached to a sole. The upper assembly includes an enclosure defining a foot receiving void and a flex feature disposed on a medial portion of the upper assembly. The flex feature connects a medial forefoot portion of the enclosure to a medial heel portion of the enclosure, thus allowing the medial forefoot and medial heel portions of the enclosure to move relative to each other. The sole assembly includes a midsole disposed on an outsole. The midsole defines voids of different depths. The voids are arranged to provide relatively greater cushioning and bendability within at least one of a metatarsus portion and a calcaneus portion of the midsole.

  • Publication number: 20120180336
Abstract: A footwear sole assembly that includes a sole body defining voids of different depths. The voids are arranged to provide relatively greater cushioning and bendability within at least one of a metatarsus portion and a calcaneus portion of the sole body. A heel top surface of the footwear sole assembly is elevated between about 4 mm and about 12 mm above a forefoot top surface of the footwear sole assembly.

  • Publication number: 20110225852
Abstract: A sole assembly for an article of footwear including an outsole and a midsole disposed on the outsole. The midsole has forward and rearward portions, where the rearward midsole portion has a softer durometer than the forward midsole portion. The midsole also has a foot receiving surface. In an unloaded state, the foot receiving surface in a heel portion of the sole assembly is at least level with or elevated above the foot receiving surface in a forefoot portion of the sole assembly with respect to level ground. The foot receiving surface in the heel portion of the sole assembly drops below the foot receiving surface in the forefoot portion of the sole assembly while in a loaded state on level ground.

  • Patent number: 5330475
Abstract: A modular fuel sender including a reservoir in a fuel tank of a motor vehicle, an electric fuel pump in the reservoir, and a jet pump for aspirating fuel into the reservoir. The electric fuel pump includes a regenerative turbine pump having a pump channel around the periphery of an impeller and a bleed orifice between an inlet and a discharge of the pump channel for bleeding a mixture of fuel and vapor from the pump channel. The bleed orifice is connected a nozzle in the jet pump. The mixture of fuel and vapor bled from the pump channel issues as a jet stream from the jet pump nozzle for aspirating fuel into the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4955231
Abstract: A liquid float gage assembly for a fluid reservoir includes magnet containing float in a vertical tube having an adjacent vertically spaced reed switch arrangement. The float is capsule shaped with an extended round cylindrical portion having rounded axial ends; and the magnet tends to be attracted to the closest reed switch to bias the float against the inner surface of the tube. The tube has a horizontally cross-sectional shape substantially matching and just larger than an axial section of the float so that the float has a stable floating orientation with a horizontal axis and is capable of rolling during vertical movement within the tube to reduce friction due to liquid surface tension between the float and the tube. The magnet has poles at axially opposing ends thereof within the float and a circumferentially consistent spacing relative to the outer surface of the float so as to provide a substantially non-varying magnetic field strength radially adjacent the float as the float rolls.
