  • Patent number: 7966539
Abstract: A method of operating an integrated circuit which includes an input module, an output module, and a processing module coupled to the input module and the output module. The method includes, in the input module, receiving a first data segment; in the processing module, reading a hard coded identifier from an identifier module coupled to the processing module, processing the first data segment with the hard coded identifier to generate a first encoded data segment; and in the output module, transferring the first encoded data segment for storage on a storage system.

Assignee: Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Netherlands B.V.
Inventors: Curtis H. Bruner, Christopher J. Squires, Jeffrey G. Reh
  • Publication number: 20100011232
Abstract: A control arrangement, for example, in a digital component that forms part of a system, draws an input current for its operation and is configured for monitoring an interface for any one of a group of commands and, upon detecting an issued one of the group of commands, operates the component for executing the issued command in an operational mode, and during an idle time on the interface, the control arrangement exclusively monitors the interface for any one of the group of commands such that the input current is limited to a leakage current. The component may draw less than 1 milliamp of current during the idle mode.

  • Publication number: 20090271587
Abstract: What is disclosed is a control system which includes an interface configured to receive a content request from a request source wherein the content request identifies content stored on a storage medium. The control system also includes a processing system coupled to the interface and configured to process the content request to determine when the request source is a valid destination for the content based on a first identifier stored with the content on the storage medium and a second identifier provided with the content request. The interface is further configured to transfer the content to the request source when the request source is a valid destination.

  • Publication number: 20080307456
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for searching and for displaying media content on a display device, such as a television. A user may search for media content while viewing their display device. Further, a user may search multiple sources while viewing their display device to find media content to download, purchase, display, etc., on their display device. Search results are displayed on the display device, with various options available to the user. A user may then download, purchase, view and/or experience selected media content. Thus, users may then experience media content within a short period of time after deciding to acquire the media content. Further, users may view media content from a media server or media unit without preloading the media content on the media unit, and may experience a greater selection of media content.
