    Abstract: A certificate management system for a cloud network including resource instances includes a certificate management application that is stored in memory and executed by a processor and that is configured to selectively assign first certificates from a first root certificate authority and second certificates from a second root certificate authority that is independent from the first root certificate authority to resource instances in the cloud network. In response to revocation of the first certificates from the first root certificate authority, the certificate management application is configured to replace the first certificates from the first root certificate authority from the resource instances in the cloud network with the second certificates from the second root certificate authority in the resource instances in the cloud network.
