    Abstract: A method for improving bus performance on a bus which accommodates isochronous and asynchronous traffic and which is asynchronous traffic intensive. The method includes the step of measuring an elapsed time period between predetermined events to determine whether bus traffic is asynchronous intensive. Thereafter, a portion of the isochronous bandwidth is allocated if the measured time period meets or exceeds a predetermined amount. In this manner, large amounts of asynchronous traffic have less latency and still conform to the fairness algorithm given in the bus specification.
