  • Patent number: 5531915
Abstract: Detergent compositions containing conventional detergent surfactants, detergent builders, and the like, and a chelant selected from ethylenediamine-N,N'-diglutaric acid (EDDG) and 2-hydroxypropylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic acid (HPDDS) are disclosed. Such compositions provide enhanced removal of organic stains, such as food and beverage stains. The EDDG and HPDDS are biodegradable and contain no phorphorus.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 3, 1994
Date of Patent: July 2, 1996
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
    Inventor: Christopher M. Perkins
  • Patent number: 4983315
Abstract: Disclosed are the N,N'-(1-oxo-1,2-ethanediyl)-bisaspartates comprising the moiety ##STR1## methods for their preparation (including an unexpected preparation from glyoxal bisulfite and aspartic acid in concentrated aqueous alkaline media) and useful compositions containing the same; illustrative are general-purpose sequestrant compositions, chelating agent compositions for transition metals such as iron, manganese and copper, general-purpose laundry detergent compositions and detergent compositions comprising perborate bleach, a bleach activator and, as a bleach stabilizer/performance enhancer, the novel bisaspartates. These unique nonphosphorus compounds are useful at low levels and differ from traditional --N--C--C--N-- chelating agents such as ethylenediaminetetraacetates by the presence of one amino- and one amido- functional group which it is believed will provide additional advantages, such as improved biodegradation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 1989
Date of Patent: January 8, 1991
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: Mark W. Glogowski, Frederick A. Hartman, Stephen W. Heinzman, Christopher M. Perkins
  • Patent number: 4902679
Abstract: Methods of treating non-inflammatory diseases characterized by abnormal calcium and phosphate metabolism comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising a geminal diphosphonic acid compound in which the diphosphonic acid-containing carbon is linker via a sulfur atom or a sulfur-containing chain to a 6-membered aromatic ring containing one or more nitrogen atoms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 13, 1985
Date of Patent: February 20, 1990
    Assignee: Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Inventors: James J. Benedict, Christopher M. Perkins
  • Patent number: 4704233
Abstract: Laundry detergent compositions containing a detergent surfactant, a detergent builder, and from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight ethylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic acid or salts thereof are disclosed. These compositions provide enhanced removal of organic stains, such as food and beverage stains.
