  • Patent number: 8712950
Abstract: Embodiments provide capacity estimates for components of a computing environment, but are not so limited. In an embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes using residual capacity estimates and smooth averages to provide point-in-time capacity estimates for resources of a computing environment. In one embodiment, a computing environment includes a capacity manager that can operate under processor control to provide capacity estimates for a collection of resources as part of a capacity monitoring and planning process. Other embodiments are included and available.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 29, 2010
Date of Patent: April 29, 2014
    Assignee: Microsoft Corporation
Inventors: Gregory Lincoln Smith, Christopher Michael Mitchell, Smiral Shah

  • Patent number: 7812492
Abstract: An electronic control unit (ECU) for a motor is mounted to a drum housing or the like in a plane parallel to the plane defined by the surface of the drum housing on which the motor is mounted. The housing for the motor includes an aperture window. Power contacts from the ECU mate with contacts from the motor through the window. Hall-effect sensors attached to the ECU can extend through the aperture to be proximate a ring magnet attached to the armature shaft of the motor. Alternatively, flux guides attached to the drum housing to transmit magnetic flux information from the motor to the Hall-effect sensors. Alternatively, optical sensors attached to the ECU can detect rotations of a reflector ring attached to the armature shaft through the window.

Date of Patent: October 12, 2010
    Assignee: Magna Closures Inc.
