Publication number: 20230208929Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention can detect and evaluate new messages at a coordinating device to determine whether to forward the message to a wearable device. In this manner, a server can reduce a number of devices that it is to communicate a message to, while still allowing the message to be availed to multiple devices. Further, certain embodiments relate to coordinating alerts (e.g., audio or haptic alerts) to reduce redundant alerts of a single message amongst spatially clustered devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2023Publication date: June 29, 2023Inventors: James B. CARY, David A. SCHIMON, Christopher P. SAARI, Karen L. BECHTEL, Antony J. DZERYN, Tyler D. HAWKINS, Eliza C. BLOCK, Curtis ROTHERT, Gustavo R. CHAURAIS, Gregory B. NOVICK

Patent number: 11605274Abstract: Techniques are provided for contacting emergency response services when certain conditions are met. In some instances, it may be determined, by a wearable device, whether a user has responded to a first user interface prompt displayed in response to detection of a physical event associated with the user. In accordance with a determination that the user has not responded to the first user interface prompt after expiration of a first time period, certain actions may be performed. For example, a countdown timer may begin to run for a second timer period. During the second period, an audio alert and a haptic alert may be output by the wearable device. In accordance with a determination that the user has not responded to a second user interface prompt prior to expiration of the second time period, a communication channel request may be transmitted to an emergency response service by the wearable device.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2020Date of Patent: March 14, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Albert Riley Howard, Catherine B. B. Morrison, Christopher P. Saari, Heather E. Daniel, Kevin M. Lynch, Ronald Keryuan Huang, Sherif Mohamed, Telford E. Forgety, III, Matthew W. Crowley, Eamon F. Gilravi

Patent number: 11595789Abstract: A device implementing a system for missed communication notification may include at least one processor configured to receive, from a server over a first communication channel, a message indicating that another device initiated a communication with the device over a second communication channel at a particular time. The at least one processor may be further configured to determine, by the device, whether the communication was established with the other device over the second communication channel at the particular time. The at least one processor may be further configured to provide, for display, an indication of the message based at least in part on a determination that the communication initiated by the other device was not established over the second communication channel at the particular time.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2020Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Kevin M. Lynch, Albert Riley Howard, Ryan A. Williams, Nicholas J. Circosta, Andreas E. Schobel, Thomas Chathoth Abraham, Vibhor Goyal, Christopher P. Saari

Patent number: 11012941Abstract: This disclosure relates to dynamic baseband management for a wireless device. The wireless device may be an accessory device. The accessory device may determine whether it has a short-range wireless communication link with a companion device. The accessory device may determine one or more proximity metrics relating to the companion device. The accessory device may further determine one or more metrics associated with user settings, user activity and/or application activity at the wireless device. The wireless device may select a (e.g., full, limited, or off) baseband operating mode based on any or all of these considerations.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2019Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Ajoy K. Singh, Jared S. Grubb, Madhusudan Chaudhary, Saran Krishnaswamy, Jesus A. Gutierrez Gomez, Sirisha Pillalamarri, Samuel J. Miller, Rohan C. Patent number: 10878683Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing audio looping techniques. In some instances, it may be determined, by a wearable device, whether a user has responded to a user interface prompt displayed in response to detection of a physical event associated with the user. Additionally, the wearable device may transmit a communication channel request to an emergency response service in accordance with a determination that the user has not responded to the user interface prompt after expiration of a time period. Further, the wearable device may transmit an audio message to the emergency response service at least in response to the emergency response service accepting the communication channel request.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2019Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Albert Riley Howard, Catherine B. The at least one processor may be further configured to determine, by the device, whether the communication was established with the other device over the second communication channel at the particular time. The at least one processor may be further configured to provide, for display, an indication of the message based at least in part on a determination that the communication initiated by the other device was not established over the second communication channel at the particular time.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 29, 2020Publication date: December 3, 2020Inventors: Kevin M. Patent number: 10802838Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can present dynamic graphical user interface previews of an application on a display of the computing device. For example, cached graphical user interface (GUI) content can be dynamically generated in response to receiving application data update information for the corresponding application. The computing device can dynamically determine a portion of the cached GUI content to present on a display of the computing device. For example, the cached GUI content can be an image that is larger than the display of the computing device. The computing device can generate a GUI preview based a portion of the cached GUI content that fits on the display of the computing device based on an indication of which portion of the cached GUI content the user wishes to view and present the preview on the display of the computing device.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2016Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Bryce D. Wolfson, Christopher P. Saari
