  • Patent number: 10086227
Abstract: A seated exercise apparatus comprises a frame having a seat attached to the frame. A pair of opposed cranks are rotatably coupled to the frame such that they rotate about a first axis. A first end of each of a pair of elongated members is rotatably connected to the frame at a respective pivot joint. A second end of each of the elongated members is connected to a respective. The pivot joints are located outside of a plane of motion of their respective right and left pedals, such that the apparatus can fit within a more compact form factor, especially in a longitudinal dimension. The pedals move in a reciprocating path having an elliptical shape, in which the major axis is more vertical than horizontal, giving a more up and down, natural, pedal motion.

  • Patent number: 9289647
Abstract: A seated exercise apparatus comprises a frame having a seat attached to the frame. A pair of opposed cranks are rotatably coupled to the frame such that they rotate about a first axis. A medial portion of each of a pair of elongated members is rotatably connected to the frame at a respective pivot joint. A first end of each elongated member has a handle and a second end of each elongated member is rotatably connected to a one end of a respective pedal arm.

  • Publication number: 20140051552
Abstract: An exercise apparatus includes a frame, a crank with left and right crank arms rotatably coupled to the frame and left and right exercise assemblies. Each of the exercise assemblies includes a pedal link, a foot pedal coupled to a rearward portion of the pedal link, a rocker link having a lower portion pivotally coupled to the forward end of the pedal link and an upper portion pivotally coupled to the frame, and a driver link having a forward portion pivotally coupled to a respective crank arm and a rearward portion pivotally coupled to the pedal link. A flexible connecting member is coupled to the pedal links or the driver links and to a pivoting assembly mounted on the frame. The left and right foot pedals reciprocate forwardly and rearwardly in coordination with rotation of the crank and reciprocate upwardly and downwardly in coordination with rotation of the pivoting assembly.

A medial portion of each of a pair of elongated members is rotatably connected to the frame at a second axis. A first end of each elongated member has a handle and a second end of each elongated member is rotatably connected to a one end of a respective pedal arm. The handles may be adjustable to invert the handles from an upper position to a lower position. The other end of each pedal arm is in turn rotatably connected to a respective crank. Each pedal arm also has a pedal adapted to receive a user's foot. In operation, the apparatus provides the user with coordinated seated exercise of both the arms/hands and legs/feet.
