    Abstract: The present invention claims a shield which is larger than 72 square inches in area and which is at least semi-rigid; not able to be easily bent with common hand or foot pressure. The invention further claims a shield which is composed of at least two layers of steel-belted tire tread material, in which preferably whole tread sections, which may have some rubber removed, in each layer are abutted and in which adjacent layers have seams which are offset or aligned at different angles. The tire tread layers may be separated by at least one layer of a penetration and/or force resistant or absorbing or dampening material. The interior layers may be substantially flat or not, and the shield itself may be substantially flat or not. The strike face of the shield is covered with a layer of fabric material. The shield may be covered with materials which enhance performance or create an aesthetic appearance.

    Abstract: A system for separating suspended and dissolved materials in a fluid having a pH offset from neutral is disclosed. It employs a plurality of stacked, generally flat treatment beds each having a surface angled downward for receiving the fluid. Since the fluid is spread over a large surface, its velocity slows causing suspended materials to drop out of the fluid as a sludge. A pH correction device may add an agent to the flowing fluid which will bring the pH closer to neutral thereby causing said dissolved materials to precipitate out and into the sludge. Atmospheric oxygen may also be used to effect the precipitation. Portions of the beds may be isolated and the sludge collected resulting in a fluid having substantially less suspended and dissolved materials at a pH and temperature closer to normal. Energy may be produced from the movement of liquid through the system or from the heat energy of the fluid. Magnetics may be utilized to improve the precipitation of solids.

The puff is composed of multiple layers of organic polymer netting which serve several purposes including containment of the pieces of solid soap product and the formation of a convenient handle for hanging the device, the provision of surfaces for the production of soap lather, and the production of a product which imparts a mildly stimulating effect to the skin.
