  • Patent number: 7147203
Abstract: Fluid control apparatus and method of controlling fluid flow. The fluid control apparatus comprises an elongate tube having a first flow opening at an end of the tube and at least one second flow opening along the length of the tube, and a sleeve arranged to slide along said tube during fluid-flow conditions. A gap is present between the tube and the sleeve to allow some fluid to pass through the gap to displace the sleeve from the tube and to allow some flow even when in a fully closed condition. A sleeve positioning device is arranged to adjust the position of the sleeve and thereby control the fluid-flow.

  • Patent number: 4448863
Abstract: A battery has a container sealed by a lid in which two shallow recesses are formed. Within each recess is a terminal which does not project out of the recess and which has a tapped hole afforded by a hard metal insert. Two elongate terminal connectors are provided with a hole at one end and a current take-off portion at the other end. The battery is sold with the recesses closed by two flush cover plates and two terminal connectors of desired type. The cover plates are removed and the terminal connectors connected to the terminals by means of screws. A part of each terminal connector is accommodated in the recesses thus restraining the terminal connectors from rotation.

  • Patent number: 4380792
Abstract: This invention is a pivot mounting for a lamp (12) comprising a pair of journal bearings (30) and two parallel semi-circular springs (14, 16) urging the bearings towards one another, the bearings having gripping surfaces (56) for the mirror. The springs (14, 16) allow the bearings to be separated to admit the mirror which is then held by the resilience of the springs.

  • Patent number: 4276358
Abstract: An electric battery has one or more cells in a single container and an outer lid. The container and the outer lid have respective divergent engagement surfaces comprising the lower surface of a ledge on the container and the upper surface of a slot in the lid respectively. Fastening means comprising a channel section clip with divergent limbs is placed in contact with the engagement surfaces and slid in the direction in which they diverge to secure the outer lid firmly to the container.
