  • Publication number: 20170231559
Abstract: A diagnostic system is provided that provides sensing and transmitting of fusion indicia to determine whether fusion has occurred. In some embodiments, a diagnostic system comprises a spinal implant or graft material; an antenna configured for sending signals to a remote location; a sensor configured for measuring at least one fusion indicia; and a receiver for receiving signals at the remote location.. In some embodiments, a method of utilizing a diagnostic system comprises the steps of inserting a spinal implant or graft material within a disc space between two vertebrae; measuring at least one fusion indicia; sending signals to a remote location with an antenna; and receiving signals with a receiver at the remote location.

  • Publication number: 20170220689
Abstract: Collections identifying associated content objects, such as user-defined collections, are stored. A request to display or play a seed content object is received. A plurality of seed collections are identified based on the seed object. A plurality of candidate content objects are identified based on the identified seed collections, for instance by identifying the content objects that are identified by the seed collections. Properties of the seed object are identified, such as the categorization of the seed object, or the tags associated with the seed object. The candidate objects are ranked based on the identified seed collections and the identified properties of the seed object, and a candidate object is selected for recommendation to the user based on the ranking. The ranking of candidate objects can also be determined based on the coherence of the seed collections and the centrality of the seed object to the seed collections.

  • Publication number: 20170150991
Abstract: A dilation introducer for orthopedic surgery is provided for minimally invasive access for insertion of an intervertebral implant. The dilation introducer may be used to provide an access position through Kambin's triangle from a posterolateral approach. A first dilator tube with a first longitudinal axis is provided. A second dilator tube may be introduced over the first, advanced along a second longitudinal axis parallel to but offset from the first. A third dilator tube may be introduced over the second, advanced along a third longitudinal axis parallel to but offset from both the first and the second. An access cannula may be introduced over the third dilator tube. With the first, second, and third dilator tubes removed, surgical instruments may pass through the access cannula to operate on an intervertebral disc and/or insert an intervertebral implant.

  • Patent number: 9664067
Abstract: A seal retaining assembly includes a first segment coupled to a first structure. Also included is a recess of the first segment, the recess defined by a first and second wall, the first wall defining a first wall aperture, the second wall defining a second wall aperture. Further included is a second segment having a tab disposed within the recess in fitted contact with the first and second wall to retain the second segment to the first segment in a radial direction, the tab defining a tab aperture, the first and second segment defining an axial gap therebetween, the first wall aperture, the second wall aperture and the tab aperture are aligned to form a passage. Yet further included is a flex seal within the axial gap. Also included is a pin in the passage to fix the second segment to the first segment in axial and circumferential directions.

  • Patent number: 9665900
Abstract: Systems and methods herein can generate sales rankings for parts based on one or more metrics, such as geographic location of purchasers of the parts or based on items owned by users that function in conjunction with the parts. The systems can present the sales rankings to a user based on another item owned by the user. For example, sales rankings of memory can be presented to a user based on a laptop model owned by the user. Thus, users can determine how popular a part is among particular segments of the population, such as among users living in a certain geographic region, or among users who own a particular item designed to operate with the part. Moreover, the sales rankings can be used to generate recommendations of parts based on a corresponding item owned by the user that is configured to function with the part type.

  • Publication number: 20170143945
Abstract: Tissue dilation systems are disclosed. The present systems provide percutaneous access to one or more target structures located in a patient's body. The tissue dilation systems include two or more tissue dilation tubes telescopically arranged and moveable relative to each other. The tissue dilation tubes can be preassembled prior to use by utilizing a dilation tube retention assembly which can maintain the dilation tubes in a substantially fixed position and release the tubes therefrom in order to dilate a patient's tissue. Methods of producing the present systems and using the present systems in surgical procedures are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20170143507
Abstract: An adjustable spinal fusion intervertebral implant including upper and lower body portions each having proximal and distal surfaces at proximal and distal ends thereof. The implant can include a proximal wedge member disposed at the proximal ends of the respective ones of the upper and lower body portions, and a distal wedge member disposed at the distal ends of the respective ones of the upper and lower body portions. First and second linkages can connect the upper and lower body portions. Rotation of an actuator shaft can cause the distal and proximal wedge members to be drawn together such that longitudinal movement of the distal wedge member against the distal surfaces and the longitudinal movement of the proximal wedge member against the proximal surfaces causes separation of the upper and lower body portions.

  • Patent number: 9654606
Abstract: A mobile device case contains an onboard retractable charging and/or data cord, preferably a USB cable or other equivalent, which allows the user to charge on the go from an available USB port without carrying an external charging cord or transformer adapter. The mobile device case can use various optional interchangeable tops that allow the user the ability to switch tops for the case. Optional tops include a simply top to secure the device into the lower base of the case, a top that contains a supplemental battery that, by engaging a switch on the top, transfers power to the mobile device's battery, and a top which serves as a transformer adapter. The latter top contains a USB:port (or equivalent) and fold-out prongs that can be plugged into an outlet. Furthermore, an improved electrical contact system permits an electrical connection between a reel for the retractable cord and a mobile device contact pin without metal-on-metal contact while the reel is moving.

  • Publication number: 20160280131
Abstract: Embodiments relate to operating a connected vehicle device to reduce the power consumption of the connected vehicle device to allow a battery of the connected vehicle device to maintain its charge for a longer amount of time. An amount of acceleration is sensed using one or more sensors attached to a vehicle. An event is detected by determining whether the sensed acceleration is larger than a threshold value. Responsive to an event being detected, one or more additional sensors attached to the vehicle are enabled and additional parameters are sensed using the one or more additional sensors. A determination is made whether the event is a reportable event based on the sensed additional parameters. If the event is a reportable event, a video is captured using one or more imaging devices, and the captured video is transmitted to a remote server using a cellular data network connection.

  • Patent number: 9399653
Abstract: Described herein are the preparation and use of novel bromo-phosphonomethylphenylalanine amino acid derivatives (BrPmp) and BrPmp-containing peptides as specific, irreversible protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors, which are suitable for application in peptide synthesis. These derivatives are particularly advantageous since their synthesis is both easy and scalable, and they are suitable for peptide synthesis. The BrPmp derivatives described herein can be appropriately protected to allow for solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and incorporation into peptides for preparation of protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors and inhibitor libraries. The peptides and peptide libraries can be used to identify new protein tyrosine phosphatase specific sequences and profile protein tyrosine phosphatase activity in cell lysates, diagnostic samples and biopsy samples.
