  • Patent number: 9341881
Abstract: Device for generating polarized electromagnetic radiation has a diffuser and a polarizer. The diffuser is arranged in a beam path of the electromagnetic radiation. The polarizer is arranged in the beam path of the electromagnetic radiation, to be precise downstream of the diffuser in the direction of propagation of the electromagnetic radiation. The polarizer has a reflective side facing the diffuser, said reflective side being at least partly reflective to the electromagnetic radiation. The polarizer transmits electromagnetic radiation having a predefined polarization and reflects electromagnetic radiation not having the predefined polarization back to the diffuser. The diffuser scatters, in a non-polarization-maintaining manner, at least one portion of the reflected-back electromagnetic radiation not having the predefined polarization.

  • Publication number: 20110297982
Abstract: A semiconductor chip is specified, comprising an active layer provided for emitting an electromagnetic radiation, and a two-dimensional arrangement of structural units, which is disposed downstream of the active layer in a main emission direction of the semiconductor chip. The structural units are arranged in an arbitrary statistical distribution. Such an arrangement of structural units makes it possible to realize a semiconductor chip having a directional emission characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20050040589
Abstract: A finger sweep for use with mail parcel handling systems includes an elongate mounting member for coupling the finger sweep to a drive shaft, and a parcel engaging member disposed on a distal end of the mounting member. In one embodiment, a pair of finger sweeps are coupled at first ends to a drive shaft such that parcel engaging members on their second ends extend in radially opposite directions. In another embodiment, an elongate mounting member is centrally attached to a drive shaft and parcel engaging members on its ends extend in radially opposite directions. The parcel engaging members are formed from polymeric material and may be removably fastened to the mounting member, or formed directly thereon.
