  • Patent number: 10155699
Abstract: An apparatus for treating organic mass. The apparatus comprises a treatment chamber and agitation means provided in the chamber to agitate the organic mass. The agitation means comprises a rotatable shaft extending through the chamber, a plurality of agitator arms extending from the shaft, and a paddle connected to each agitator arm. The paddle is arranged to make a first angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the agitator arm and a second angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. There is also provided a system for recycling ammonia generated from the treated organic mass by the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7604987
Abstract: The invention relates to a bioreactor comprising a chamber for containing cells or tissue cultures within a culture medium. The bioreactor also comprises a detector capable of detecting a change in one or more metabolites associated with growth of the cell or tissue cultures within the chamber and a chamber drive capable of rotating the chamber at a first speed about a first axis and a second speed about a second axis, the second axis being disposed at an angle relative to the first axis. In use, the magnitude of the first speed and the second speed are independently variable of each other.

  • Publication number: 20040241835
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous flow dual axis bioreactor (10) for growing three-dimensional cell or tissue cultures. The bioreactor (10) includes a chamber (12) adapted to contain a three-dimensional matrix for growing three-dimensional cell or tissue cultures. A rotatable plate (14) supports the chamber (12) and is rotatable about a vertical axis (16). The rotatable plate (14) is supported on an rotary L-shaped bracket (20) that rotates about a horizontal axis (22). Two multi-flow fluid connectors (32,34) are provided to prevent any pipes connecting the chamber to a feed source or a product tank from being entangled and to allow continuous flow to and from the bioreactor (10).
