  • Patent number: 11940388
Abstract: Example methods are provided to improve placement of an adaptor (210,220) to a mobile computing device (100) to measure a test strip (221) coupled to the adaptor (220) with a camera (104) and a screen (108) on a face of the mobile computing device (100). The method may include displaying a light area on a first portion of the screen (108). The first portion may be adjacent to the camera (104). The light area and the camera (104) may be aligned with a key area of the test strip (221) so that the camera (104) is configured to capture an image of the key area. The method may further include providing first guiding information for a user to place the adaptor (210,220) to the mobile computing device (100) according to a position of the light area on the screen (108).

  • Patent number: 7081685
Abstract: A generator generates electricity when the generator is pressed and has a stator, a rotor, a drive shaft, a biasing member and a top cover. The rotor is mounted in the stator and has a central hole with at least one key. The drive shaft is slidably mounted in the central hole in the rotor base and has at least one spiral groove in which the at least one key on the rotor is mounted. The biasing member is mounted between the base and the drive shaft to provide a restitution force to the drive shaft when the drive shaft is pressed down manually. The top cover has a central bore through which the top of the drive shaft non-rotatably extends. Accordingly, movement of the drive shaft causes the rotor to rotate relative to the stator and generate electricity.

  • Publication number: 20050082900
Abstract: An in-line skate wheel having skew-mounted and self-powered illuminating devices is disclosed. The wheel includes a first and a second anchor joined together creating a chamber in the middle, a rotor held in the chamber, multiple illuminating devices inserted with a skew angle on the rotor, a stator fitted in the rotor, an axle passing through the two coupled anchors and the stator, and a protective covering placed around the rim of the two anchors. The skew-mounted illuminating devices allow the skate wheel to be fitted on in-line skates and skate boards that can only use small wheels. Further, the present design can prevent scratching of the illuminating devices against the ground that would otherwise cause abrasion on the surface of the illuminating devices and attenuate the light given out by the illuminating devices.

  • Publication number: 20050082774
Abstract: An in-line skate wheel incorporating transverse-mounted and self-powered illuminating device is disclosed. The wheel includes two mutually coupled anchors, a rotor held between the two coupled anchors, multiple illuminating devices installed in transverse orientation on the rotor, a stator within the rotor but kept apart from the rotor, an axle extending through the two coupled anchors and the stator, and a protective covering placed around the rim of the first and second anchors. The transverse-mounted illuminating devices allow the skate wheel to be fitted on in-line skates and skate boards that can only use small wheels. Further, the present design can prevent scratching of the illuminating devices against the ground to avoid abrasion on the surface of the illuminating devices that would otherwise attenuate the light given out by the illuminating devices.

  • Patent number: 6756719
Abstract: An electrical generator includes a coil, a coil seat and a set of permanent magnets. The coil and the set of permanent magnets are separated from each other. The coil is mounted in the coil seat so that either the coil or the set of permanent magnets can rotate relative to the other. The set of permanent magnets has multiple north poles and south poles arranged alternately. The set of permanent magnets is adjustably positioned relative to the coil seat. The set of permanent magnets is maintained a distance from the coil seat and induces a voltage in the coil in the coil seat when the set of permanent magnets rotates relative to the coil.

  • Patent number: 6703716
Abstract: A generator for a bicycle includes a rotor abutting a wheel of the bicycle. A coil is mounted in the rotor and electrically connected to two bearings that are mounted on the opposite sides of the rotor by two inner wires. A stator has a shaft extending through the two bearings and a permanent magnet sleeved onto the shaft and corresponding to the coil. Two electrical ring connectors are respectively mounted on opposite ends of the shaft and electrically connected to the bearings. A light is mounted on the bicycle and electrically connected to the electrical ring connectors. The coil will rotate with the rotor relative to the stator when the bicycle is in motion and generate electricity that is transmitted to the light, and the light improves the enjoyment and safety of riding the bicycle.

  • Patent number: 6396178
Abstract: A wheel has two wheel halves, a generator, two bearings and two metal rings. The wheel halves are detachably connected to each other. The generator is composed of an annular coil seat and an annular permanent magnet. The coil seat is securely mounted between the wheel halves and has a winding wound around the coil seat. The permanent magnet is rotatably mounted between the wheel halves. Each bearing is received in one of the wheel halves and electrically connects with one end of the winding. Each ring is securely attached to one of the wheel halves to abut the bearing. Consequently, the coil seat will rotate with the wheel bodies and relative to the permanent magnet and generate electricity. The electricity will be transmitted to a lighting device or a sounding device. The enjoyment of a roller skate or a skateboard with the wheel is improved.
