  • Publication number: 20120188229
Abstract: Approximation errors commonly occur when color transformation values stored in color look-up tables are interpolated to produce color display drive signals, since the stored transformation values typically correspond to non-linear functions. Such errors can be reduced by applying a pre-indexing function to the transformation values before they are stored in the look-up table, and by applying the same function to values extracted from the table during look-up operations. Alternatively, such errors can be reduced by providing one or more additional look-up tables to achieve higher order (i.e. more accurate) interpolation results that are achievable by interpolation of values stored in a single look-up table.

  • Publication number: 20100328537
Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a display system for displaying video. The display system includes a backlight layer and an LCD layer. The display system controls the backlight layer and the LCD layer to emulate a cathode ray tube response. This emulation may be accomplished by applying a gamma function to a gamma corrected input signal. In this manner, the effects resulting from the “crushed blacks” phenomenon may be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100118057
Abstract: Chromaticity of light output by a light-emitting diode, such as a light-emitting diode (LED), is adjusted while maintaining a brightness of the illumination source substantially constant by adjusting a drive schema for the illumination source. A driver for LEDs or other light-emitting diodes provides for varying a drive schema to adjust chromaticity of driven LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20100002026
Abstract: A display has a screen which incorporates a light modulator. The screen may be a front projection screen or a rear-projection screen. The screen is illuminated with light from an illuminator comprising an array of individually-controllable light sources. The light sources and elements of the light modulator may be controlled to adjust the intensity and frequency of light emanating from corresponding areas on the screen. The display may be calibrated to compensate for differences in intensities of the light sources.
