  • Patent number: 11206167
Abstract: A method of performing carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation and/or time offset (TO) estimation at a radio equipment in a mobile communications system. The method allows, for each of a plurality of synchronization signal (SS) blocks (SSBs) in a SS Burst detected at said radio equipment, determining a CFO estimation and/or a TO estimation based on network information signal prediction. The method includes selecting at least some of said detected SSBs in said SSB Burst and combining the CFO estimations and/or the TO estimations to obtain improved CFO compensation and/or TO compensation for signal processing at said radio equipment.

  • Patent number: 9949226
Abstract: A system comprising beacon-generating clusters for enabling a mobile computing device to perform location or proximity determination is provided. Each cluster comprises a primary station for broadcasting a primary beacon, and an offset-assisted station, positioned from the primary station by an offset distance along a direction, for broadcasting a secondary beacon. The offset distance and the direction are unique for all the clusters, causing a jittering area, within which the mobile computing device is unable to determine which one of adjacent primary stations is closer to from detecting the primary beacons, to be reduced by further utilizing the secondary beacons provided by the clusters. Fluctuation in received signal strength indicator (RSSI) can be reduced by having each station, primary or secondary, installed with multiple co-located broadcasting units for utilizing space and time diversity to reduce RSSI fluctuation. In another option, multiple offset-assisted stations are used for each cluster.

  • Patent number: 9426677
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, a device, and a system for optimizing a tradeoff between capacity and coverage of a network. The method includes: receiving statistical information and a first count that are sent by a base station; establishing at least one coverage cluster; calculating cluster values of all the coverage clusters; acquiring an entire-network coverage hole (CH) value and an entire-network coverage overlap (CO) value; calculating an entire-network utility value according to the entire-network CH value and the entire-network CO value; if the capacity or coverage weight and the antenna downtilt of each base station in all the coverage clusters need to be adjusted, acquiring an adjustment value for the capacity or coverage weight of each base station and an adjustment value for the antenna downtilt of each base station according to an optimization strategy, and sending the adjustment values to a corresponding base station.

  • Patent number: 8774111
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for a fair and efficient channel allocation and spectrum sensing for cognitive transmission in wireless networks are presented herein. A base station can send a cognitive user device a request to sense an idle channel associated with a primary network, and in response to receiving a willingness indicator or an attribute from the cognitive user device and/or a number of idle channels associated with the primary network sensed by the cognitive user device, the base station can assign the cognitive user device to transmit data on the idle channel associated with the primary network.

  • Patent number: 8655283
Abstract: Cluster-based cooperative spectrum sensing is provided for cognitive radio systems. For each cluster of cognitive users, a cluster head is determined. Each cluster head collects energies of a reporting channel measured by the cognitive users within the cluster and decides whether a primary user is absent from a given spectrum. A common receiver then aggregates the cluster-level decisions made by the cluster heads, and makes a decision across multiple, or all of, the clusters whether the primary user is absent based on a fusion function of the cluster-level decisions. If the primary (licensed) user is absent, then secondary (unlicensed) users may utilize the spectrum.
