Abstract: A serving apparatus including a main housing, a main receptacle, a checkout port, a display region including a display device, an RFID first detector including a first antenna, an RFID second detector including a second antenna, a data storage device, and a processor is disclosed. The RFID first detector is configured to detect and collect RFID signals coming in from the receptacle and to register a detected article as a checked-in article. The RFID second detector is RF isolated from the RFID first detector and configured to check out a checked-in article. The processor is configured to classify a checked-in article as a floating article if the checked-in article is not detected by the RFID first detector or the RFID second detector for a time exceeding a threshold time.

Abstract: An apparatus comprising a main receptacle, a first detector, a second detector and a processor; wherein said main receptacle is to hold articles for customer selection, said first detector is to detect presence of an article on said main receptacle, said second detector is to detect an article after said article has been removed from said main receptacle; and wherein the processor is to collect identification information of an article upon introduction of said article into the main receptacle during a serving session and to register introduction of said article, and wherein the processor is to check out or de-register said article from said serving session upon detection of presence of said article at said second detector.

Abstract: An anti-theft RFID system for monitoring the presence of a plurality of tagged items includes an RFID reader including an antenna and being configured to transmit an interrogating signal to the RFID tags and retrieve data; a processor configured to process the data that the RFID reader retrieves from the RFID tags; and a display connected to the processor and configured to display a result processed by the processor. The processor is configured to update a first counter value indicating the number of tagged items located within a predefined area and to update a second counter value indicating the number of tagged items being taken away from the predefined area. The display is configured to display the values of the first and the second counters and thereby to assist an operator to determine the occurrence of a security event by analyzing the values of the first and the second counters.
