  • Patent number: 4622076
Abstract: A method for washing an assay tray includes the following steps. A solid pad of absorbent material, such as a layer of cotton sandwiched between a cardboard and a nonwoven fabric, is firstly placed over the wells of an assay tray. The assay tray is then tilted or inverted together with the pad to allow the serum to drain off and be absorbed in the pad. The assay tray is then inserted in a washing device and submerged in the stationary washing liquid. Subsequently, the washing device is moved relative to the washing liquid to let the washing liquid flow freely in and out of the wells of the assay tray to thoroughly wash the beads and the wells, while the beads will be blocked from falling out of the wells by means of the special design of the washing device. The washing device has a broad opened wall which confines a network of ribs formed by intersections of transverse and longitudinal walls. The intersecting portions substantially superimpose the center of the wells respectively.

  • Patent number: 4298593
Abstract: This invention involves an improvement in a method for immunochemically assaying a member of an antigen-antibody binding pair in serum or plasma which utilizes labeled antigen having a plurality of antigenic binding sites as the indicating reagent, the improvement comprising employing the antigen immunochemically bound to labeled Fab as the indicating reagent. This invention also encompasses reagents useful in practicing the above method. These methods and reagents are particularly useful in hepatitis detection.

  • Patent number: 4273756
Abstract: The present invention encompasses a method for determining a class specific antibody to an antigen comprising:(a) binding an antibody for a specific immunoglobulin class to a solid support to form a class specific antibody reagent;(b) reacting the class specific antibody reagent with test sample;(c) removing unbound test sample to provide an antigen reagent, and(d) reacting the antigen reagent with a known antigen and measuring the amount of bound antigen thereby determining the amount of class specific antibody to that antigen. The present invention is useful for differential diagnosis, since the relative amount of class specific antibodies varies with the progress of infection.

  • Patent number: 4230683
Abstract: The present invention encompasses an improved method for detecting antigen or antibody bound to a solid support which involves the reaction of hapten-labeled antibody to the antigen or antibody to be detected followed by reaction of the hapten moiety with labeled antibody to the hapten and the determination of the amount of label bound to the solid support.

  • Patent number: 4012494
Abstract: A method for direct radioimmunoassay of antigens or their associated antibodies utilizing a coated test apparatus comprising adding a serum to be tested for an antigen to test apparatus coated with its antibody; incubating the tubes for from 0.5 to 42 hours; aspirating the contents and washing the same with a Tris-HCl and sodium azide mixture; adding purified I.sup.125 labeled antibody into the tube and incubating for from 1 to 24 hours; aspirating and washing the contents; and counting the tube for I.sup.125 radiation. A similar assay for the antibody may be conducted utilizing an antigen coated apparatus and I.sup.125 labeled antigen. The method for coating these apparatus such as tubes comprises adding the antigen or antibody solution in a Tris-HCl, sodium azide solution into a suitable test tube or well, incubating the tubes at room temperature, aspirating and washing the contents and storing at from between 2.degree. and 25.degree. C. until use.
