  • Patent number: 5215281
Abstract: A two-piece cushion insert for a U-bolt clamp assembly for securing large diameter elongate cylindrical members, such as pipe, tubing, conduit or hose, to a support surface is disclosed. The cushion insert comprises a base member and a cushion strip member which cooperate to provide a passageway that encompasses the cylindrical member. The base member includes a concave portion for receiving the cylindrical member and two flange portions each having a shoulder extending upwardly and inwardly away from the flange portion. The cushion strip is of uniform cross-section and has an outer surface having raised portions that define an arcuate saddle for receiving the U-bolt and for preventing relative axial movement between the U-bolt and the cushion insert. Once assembled in the U-bolt clamp assembly, the cushion strip is securely supported at its ends between the U-bolt and the shoulders of the flange portions.

  • Patent number: 5014940
Abstract: A clamp assembly for securing elongate cylindrical members, such as pipe, tubing, conduit or hose, to a support surface. The clamp assembly comprises a split sleeve shock absorbing cushion and a U-shaped rod or bolt member. The cushion has an outer surface comprising a spaced pair of raised portions that form a saddle for the U-bolt rod member. When the U-bolt member is attached to the support surface the cushion is retainably engaged by the U-bolt and transmits the clamping force from the U-bolt across the full width of the inner surface of the cushion to the cylindrical member.

  • Patent number: 4997148
Abstract: The present invention is a clamp assembly having two clamp halves. A cushion insert is disposed within the clamp halves to retain a tube, conduit, or other cylindrical member within the clamp assembly. The cushion insert includes means for allowing the cushion insert to flex and be disposed about the tube.

  • Patent number: 4516296
Abstract: A two-piece clamp for securing elongate cylindrical members, such as pipe, tubing, conduit or hose, to a channel. The two-piece clamp has two clamp halves fabricated with an aperture at one end. A stud is non-rotatably secured in the aperture of one of the clamp halves and is adapted to be detachably secured in the aperture of the other clamp half. A spacer may be integrally formed on the stud for permitting the clamp halves to be squarely clamped together. The method and machine for securing the stud to a clamp half features an automated assembly system for forming one end of the stud after assembling the clamp half thereon to securely lock the stud onto the clamp half.

  • Patent number: 4110983
Abstract: Air operated hydraulic pump apparatus disclosed is particularly adaptable for use with tilting cab control systems. Reciprocation of a pump plunger to pump control liquid from a reservoir is achieved by a spring biased piston slidable within a cylinder bore and alternately moved in opposite directions by the spring bias and compressed air. A valve of the apparatus has a first position where it supplies compressed air to a first chamber of the cylinder bore so as to act against the spring bias and move the piston in one direction. The spring providing the bias is received within a second chamber of the cylinder bore and moves the piston in the opposite direction when the valve is moved to a second position that terminates the supply of compressed air to the first chamber and exhausts the first chamber to the environment.

  • Patent number: 4085960
Abstract: A latch mechanism for a tilting cab vehicle selectively secures a cab thereof to the vehicle frame in a lower use position against movement to an access position. The latch mechanism includes a keeper preferably mounted on the cab and a base preferably mounted on the frame. A keeper opening of the base receives the keeper upon movement of the cab to the use position. The mechanism also includes a bolt mounted on the base for movement between a latching and a nonlatching position so as to selectively engage and disengage the keeper within the keeper opening to maintain the cab in the use position. A hydraulic cylinder mounted on the base defines a cylinder bore and includes a piston slidable within the bore. A first side of the piston includes a connecting rod portion that fixedly mounts the bolt such that sliding of the piston moves the bolt between its two positions.

  • Patent number: 4081053
Abstract: A lock valve for a double acting cylinder including a housing that defines first and second fluid paths for supplying a control fluid to the cylinder to actuate pushing cylinder extension or pulling cylinder retraction and to positively locate the cylinder in any partially extended position. First and second spaced check valves are respectively disposed along the first and second fluid paths to normally prevent reverse fluid flow therealong from the cylinder. Aligned openings of the check valves are closed by spring biased valve elements thereof from the opposite side of each opening as the other check valve. A bore in the housing between the check valves slidably receives a control piston with first and second actuating portions for respectively moving the check valve elements upon piston movement in opposite directions to open the check valves and permit the reverse fluid flow from the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4026113
Abstract: Tilting cab control apparatus including a horizontally extending hydraulic pump reservoir cover plate having upper and lower surfaces and edge surfaces extending between the upper and lower surfaces to define the periphery of the plate. A pump reservoir having an upper opening is sealed against the lower surface of the cover plate such that the upper and edge surfaces thereof are exposed. A pump opening of the cover plate, a pump in the opening, a valve bore communicated with the pump opening, and a control valve in the valve bore cooperate to provide pumped hydraulic fluid to a tilting cab control cylinder. One embodiment of the cover plate is specifically designed for use with single acting cylinders while a second embodiment is designed for use with double acting cylinders.
