  • Patent number: 10184450
Abstract: A control method and a wind turbine for adaptively adjusting the operation of the wind turbine to maintain maximum power production during degraded conditions. The control system has an estimator module that determines a scaling factor based on the current set of control signals and at least the current set of measurement of the operating parameters. The scaling factor is transmitted to a control module which scales at least one aerodynamic property of the rotor based on this scaling factor. The control module further determines the ideal settings for the control signals based on the scaled aerodynamic properties. The present control method scales the aerodynamic properties to provide a better representation of the actual degraded aerodynamic properties.

  • Patent number: 9100485
Abstract: An Adaptive Stochastic Queueing device comprises a process that maintains a plurality of queues defined around the known and changing resource usage history of an ensemble of customers, customers seeking access to a resource. Applying a stochastic approach that reflects the history of each customer in reference to the ensemble history, the queues intercept and sort customers. A stochastic sequencer sequences customers from the queues to the resource in a manner that selectively promotes customers in a manner attuned to the application using the device.

  • Publication number: 20150141874
Abstract: A multi-beam ultrasound device with intersecting beams is presented for use in medical therapy and industry. Multiple ultrasound beams interfere constructively and destructively depending on their phase at the target tissue, and this device and its methodology uses phase control for intensity enhancement at the beam intersection. Two among many embodiments are detailed: phase matching where the phases of the beams are determined and controlled to be equal, and phase sweeping where the phases of the beams are purposely varied.

  • Patent number: 8719629
Abstract: Power-backup capabilities are provided by implementing a variety of different methods, systems and devices. According to one such implementation, a solid-state memory device is implemented with a primary power source that provides primary power. A secondary power source provides secondary power. A power controller provides the primary power to an operating power circuit. The secondary power is provided by enabling a secondary switch located between the secondary power source and the operating power circuit. A solid-state memory uses power from the operating power circuit as a primary source of power when accessing stored data and retains data in the absence of power being provided by the operating power circuit. A memory controller facilitates access to the stored data. In response to problems with the primary power source, pending writes are completed to the solid-state memory circuit. A timing circuit substantially delays full enablement of the secondary switch.

  • Patent number: 8644994
Abstract: A spatial correlation system and method is disclosed to infer and anticipate the environmental and other conditions of an energy park from individual energy collector information. Individual collector information is acquired and formatted into a pixelized image according to the spatial location of the collector. Image processing and other spatial correlating algorithms are applied to generate spatially correlated descriptions of the energy park. The descriptions are of the current and anticipated conditions. The collectors are made to respond to the descriptions in order to maximize energy collection, avoid disruptive conditions, and reduce stress loading. The system combines locally acquired collection information in a manner that replaces costly collector instrumentation.

  • Patent number: 8479032
Abstract: Power-backup capabilities are provided by implementing a variety of different methods, systems and devices. According to one such implementation, a data-storage device is implemented having a memory control circuit controlling nonvolatile and volatile memory. An operating power circuit carries primary-operating power from the host-system to the memories and control circuitry. A backup power circuit includes energy-storage circuitry with one or more energy storage devices. An isolation-regulation circuit provides voltage regulation of power from the host-system and also isolates the host-system provided power from the energy storage devices.
