  • Patent number: 4316578
Abstract: A rail fastener includes a rail plate, a pad of elastomeric material between the plate and a support structure, a pair of clips for resiliently clamping the rail to the rail plate. The rail plate includes a pair of channels in which the clips occupy a first portion. The pad of elastomeric material preferably includes a pair of bosses dimensioned to be received within the unoccupied portion of the channel. The pad of elastomeric material is constrained from creeping out from underneath the rail plate whenever the bosses contact the end portions of the clips or the walls of the channel. The bosses are preferably noncompressable elastomeric material.

  • Patent number: 4255903
Abstract: A bulb-type sealing gasket formed from linear sealing strips and curvelinear sealing corners connected to one another. The sealing strip is constructed from a planar strip of flexible resilient material having end portions which extends substantially perpendicularly to the plane of the sealing strip. The upper sections of the end portions are configured into mounting flanges and the lower sections are configured into cooperating male and female locking elements so that, when the strip is rolled about its longitudinal axis and the cooperating locking elements are snapped together, a bulb-type sealing strip is formed which has a pair of oppositely extending co-planar flanges for mounting upon a closing member.

  • Patent number: 4150791
Abstract: A rail fastener includes a rail plate, a pad of elastomeric material between the plate and a support structure, and a pair of posts for laterally and longitudinally restraining the rail plate with an insulator bushing mounted between the posts and cooperating peripheral surfaces of the openings in the rail plate. Each of these posts is preferably formed of two parts, one of which is embedded in the support structure, and the other of which is an eccentric which is releaseably attached thereto. Rotation of the eccentrics provides lateral and longitudinal adjustment of the rail plate with respect to the support structures, thereby providing lateral adjustment of the rail with respect to the support structure.

  • Patent number: 4129965
Abstract: A safety crank assembly for railroad box car plug doors which is mounted between the door, intermediary of the operating crank assemblies, and the retainer track above the door. The safety crank assembly includes a crank arm having an end portion for engaging the retainer track. The engaging end portion is provided with a shuttle which has a rearwardly positioned and downwardly extending skirt which, in case of failure, exerts a load on a portion of the lower shelf of the track which is located much nearer to the side of the car than the crank arm itself would exert on the shelf in case of failure. The upper portion of the shuttle slides in a U-shaped channel at the top of the retainer track to keep it from rotating with rotation of the crank and exerts a load on the downwardly extending shelf of the U-shaped channel of the retainer.

  • Patent number: 4047663
Abstract: A rail fastener includes a rail plate, a layer of elastomeric material between the plate and a support structure, and a pair of posts for laterally and longitudinally restraining the rail plate, with elastomeric material mounted between the posts and cooperating surfaces of the rail plate. The rail plate, the layer of elastomeric material, and the support structure on which it is mounted form a shear pad. The posts are partially embedded in the support structure and extend through respective openings in the rail plate, the inner peripheries of which are covered with elastomeric material, to provide lateral and longitudinal restraint to the rail plate. Each of these posts is preferably formed of two parts, one of which is embedded in the support structure, and the other of which is an eccentric which is releasably attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 3950803
Abstract: A boat stanchion is formed of a single, continuous strand of fiberglass and thermosetting resin. The fiberglass strand is wound into a loop having a multiplicity of turns and the loop is then flattened to form a substantially straight bundle of overlapping strand sections. The strand bundle is placed in a mold with thermosetting resin. One half of the mold includes a pair of pointed rods which separate the strand sections when the two mold halfs are brought together to form two holes. The partial loop of overlapping strand sections at one end of the bundle encompasses one of the holes and approximately one half of the overlapping strand sections at approximately a mid-point of the bundle are positioned on one side of the other hole and the remainder thereof are positioned on the other side of that hole.
