  • Patent number: 5626569
Abstract: A vent device, in particular for a stoma bag, constituted by an essentially flat housing comprising a base having a face inside the housing and a face outside the housing, and adapted to be fixed via said outside face to an exposed face of said bag and provided with an opening communicating with said bag, and also provided with a valve of the type that is closed at rest, the valve being formed by a valve member adapted to bear against the inside face of said opening in said base, and being integral with resilient means for urging said valve member against said base with a predetermined return force, wherein the housing further includes a removable cover adapted to close said base and wherein the valve member is secured to said cover.

  • Patent number: 4929245
Abstract: A connection assembly for a drainage appliance, one portion attaching to the body of the patient, the other portion attached to the drainage collection bag. The connection allows the easy removal of the bag yet assures an easily lockable joint including a continuous seal between the two portions when connected together. The two portions fit together and resilient snap-fit elements create an initially sealed relationship. A rotating locking ring on the body portion can be rotated to lock the snap-fit elements in a non-resilient condition and locks the two portions together while still permitting relative rotational motion therebetween. The bag portion can be easily removed when the locking ring is moved to an unlocked position, thereby releasing the snap-fit elements.

  • Patent number: 4846798
Abstract: An improved ostomy device is provided having two elements one of which is provided to be fixed about an artifical opening in the body of the user by means of a pressure sensitive adhesive means, a belt or any other similar means, and the other of which includes a collecting pocket for collecting body fluids and/or waste intended to be removably coupled to said first element by screwing means formed on two end pieces, a first one of which is fixed to a shoe forming a cutaneous protector of the peristomial zone and about an opening in said shoe, whereas the second is fixed about an opening in the connecting pocket, said first end piece, which may also be fixed about the outlet of one or more probes or similar which is or are fast therewith, as well as said second end piece is provided with means ensuring sealing of the device during fitting together of the two elements by screwing.

  • Patent number: 4834730
Abstract: An improved clamp is provided for closing a body waste collecting bag, molded from a plastic material piece and comprising two two legs hinged together about a film hinge, said legs being formed so as to clamp therebetween, in the operating condition, the films or sheets forming the collecting bag on the free emptying edge thereof, with removable means for immobilizing the legs with respect to each other, said legs with substantially rectangular flat contour being formed as the male and female parts of a resilient grip engagement coupling, said leg formed as the female part has a cross section somewhat in the form of a C with resiliently deformable wings, the leg formed as the male part has a partially conjugate cross section, and said legs defining simultaneously, at their end opposite the hinge end, a safety means also being of resilient grip type.

  • Patent number: 4391688
Abstract: The disclosure describes a horizontal slab gel electrophoresis apparatus. The latter consists of two spaced apart vessels which are each adapted to contain a running buffer. Each vessel is provided with an electrode for connection to a suitable power supply. At least one horizontal plate to contain a slab gel is disposed in bridging fashion over the first and second spaced apart vessels. Capillary contact should be established between one end of the slab gel and the running buffer which is present in the first vessel and also between the other end of the slab gel and the running buffer which is present in the second vessel. The method involves using this apparatus by adding a solution of a mixture of molecules of mixed molecular weights, such as DNA to wells formed in a horizontal slab gel after which the gel is treated by electrophoresis to produce localized bands each being characteristic of a specific molecular weight.
