  • Patent number: 9488725
Abstract: A device and a method for detecting objects in the surroundings of a vehicle is provided. At least one reflection pattern is ascertained for at least one object class. Pulse echo measurements for m different transmitter/receiver geometries are performed. Echo signals in the pulse echo measurements are detected. Weights for the different objects of the corresponding class are calculated. The weight values thus ascertained are summed to form a weight, and the presence of objects of the at least one object class is ascertained using the weights thus ascertained.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 3, 2014
Date of Patent: November 8, 2016
    Assignee: Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Stephan Max, Claudia Prausse, Alexander Urban
  • Patent number: 9348025
Abstract: A device for lateral environment detection of a motor vehicle and a method for the substantially simultaneous operation of a parking support device and a door protection device is provided. The parking support device and the door protection device perform an environment detection with structurally identical environmental sensors. In order to be able to operate these simultaneously or overlapping in time, without interference by cross echo pulse occurring, it is provided to operate the simultaneously operated environmental sensors at frequencies that are shifted relative to one another and of which at least one of the frequencies is also shifted with respect to a resonance frequency of the environmental sensors.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 17, 2014
Date of Patent: May 24, 2016
    Assignee: Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Alexander Urban, Stephan Max, Claudia Prausse, Reiner Katzwinkel
  • Patent number: 9322916
Abstract: An environment monitoring device in a motor vehicle having a signal generating device for generating a transmitted signal, at least one ultrasonic transducer for converting electric oscillations into acoustic oscillations and/or vice versa, and an evaluation device which evaluates an electric received signal in order to determine distances to objects in an environment of the motor vehicle, wherein the signal generating device is linked to the at least one ultrasonic transducer so that the ultrasonic transducer emits an ultrasonic transmitted signal into the environment in accordance with the electric transmitted signal, and the evaluation device is connected to the at least one ultrasonic transducer or at least one further ultrasonic transducer in order to receive the electric received signal. Also disclosed is a method for monitoring an environment by using a cross-correlation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 30, 2012
Date of Patent: April 26, 2016
    Assignee: VOLKSWAGEN AG
Inventors: Claudia Prausse, Volkmar Tanneberger, Stephan Max

  • Patent number: 8942066
Abstract: A composite assembly for a motor vehicle having at least one electroacoustic transducer for outputting sound waves and at least one wall element of the motor vehicle, behind which the transducer is mounted in a concealed manner, wherein an intermediate element for influencing the sound emission behavior is arranged between the transducer and the wall element, the intermediate element having a contact surface facing the wall element for passing on the sound waves. At least one recess is formed within the contact surface, in which recess no contact is made between the intermediate element and the wall element. In this way, it is possible to influence the emission characteristics of the electroacoustic transducer in a very flexible and need-oriented manner.
