The roller unit also includes an integrated annular collar that is at least codiametric with the teeth in order to protect the teeth. An integral transition area between the card clothing and the annular collars eliminates the problem of a tooth gap.

The bracing elements (4, 5, 6) are joined by means of a laser welding process, preferably with a CO.sub.2 laser, squarely on the interior wall (20) of the lateral elements (2, 3). The components (2 to 6) of the spinning box frame (1) are fixed in place in a welding device (26), which permits the exact positioning of the individual components during the laser welding process.

The control device (18) actuates a yarn piecing operation by the service unit only upon detection of an identification marker (34) identifying the spinning rotor (15) to be compatible with the associated spinning device.

The reversing thread groove has a club-like cross-sectional shape in the other groove portions. The reversing thread groove has a rounded groove bottom, a variable depth at least at the intersections, a variable width, a relatively flatter portion, and a relatively deeper portion interrupting the relatively flatter portion defining a groove portion of relatively lesser depth and relatively lesser width through which the yarn initially passes, being followed by a collector pocket groove portion of relatively greater width which decreases in width as the groove continues.
