  • Patent number: 7033075
Abstract: A radiographic sensor retention apparatus for retaining a radiographic sensor and allowing it to be properly positioned within the mouth of a dental patient during x-ray image registration. The apparatus is held in position within the mouth of the patient in response to biting pressure from the upper and lower dental surfaces, and comprises a bite block with an extending first jaw member, a second jaw member slidably engaged with the bite block, and a threadable member connecting the second jaw member to either the bite block or the first jaw member, wherein the separation between the jaws is continuously variable in response to the rotation of the threadable member. Compliant members are preferably joined to one or both of the jaw members to aid in distributing the retention forces and to reduce sensor slippage. The bite block is preferably configured for the attachment of at least one alignment guide.

  • Patent number: 6745396
Abstract: A head worn apparatus having a pair of rearwardly disposed elongated support arm assemblies having movable portions which are positionally adjustable to provide increased wearer comfort attached to a head-worn device such as a visor or eyeglasses. The support arm assemblies each include a an articulating segment and/or head gripping region pivotally coupled to the head-worn apparatus. The articulating segment include means for providing a constant inward compressive force by means of increased resistance for rotating articulating segments outwardly, thereby securing the head-worn device onto a wearer's head.

  • Patent number: 6490757
Abstract: A hinge assembly for head worn visors and the like having first and second sleeves, said first sleeve positioned adjacent and coaxial to said second sleeve, whereby said first sleeve is pivotable relative to said second sleeve, a plunger disposed within said first and second sleeves, and means for adjusting the position of said first sleeve in relation to said second sleeve in a ratcheting manner.

  • Patent number: 5931171
Abstract: A dental flossing apparatus adapted to use dental floss having gripper elements. The apparatus includes a handle having a pair of arcuate prongs extending therefrom, a pair of receptacles defined within the handle and disposed adjacent the proximal end of each prong, and a pair of channels, wherein each channel extends from a receptacle towards the tip of the prongs. The tips are spaced apart such that a piece of dental floss can be stretched therebetween, and the receptacles are adapted and configured to securely hold each gripper element at the ends of the dental floss. As an alternate embodiment, a pair of handles are pivotally attached such that the distance between the tips of the prongs is variable based on the position of the handles relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 5619195
Abstract: A multi-axial position sensor assembly for a joystick in which sensor/magnet pairs are positioned orthogonally on concentric gimbal rings such that each sensor and corresponding magnet pivot in relation to each other as a result of joystick movement. The sensors produce a reference output voltage when the joystick is centered and the sensors are aligned with the magnets. As a magnet rotates in relation to a sensor, the sensor produces an output voltage which is proportional to the angle of rotation and which has a polarity dependent upon the direction of rotation relative to the centered position.
