When the locking pin is inserted through a portion of the mechanism, the gate is held in a closed position. The locking pin can be locked in the closed position with a lock.

When the locking pin slides out of the latch device, the gate can easily be opened or closed. When the locking pin is inserted through the latch device and around the gate, the gate is held in a closed position. The locking pin can be locked in the closed position with a lock.
