  • Patent number: 6086400
Abstract: A cable connector coupling having a nut for attachment to a cable connector and a body joined to the nut so that the cable of the cable connector passes through the nut and body, the nut having a first internal annular groove and the body having a first external annular groove, with a lock ring positioned in the first grooves so that the nut and body translate axially together, an annular engagement ring positioned around the body for sliding axially on the body, the engagement ring having a second internal annular groove and the body having a second external annular groove, with a drive ring positioned in the second grooves, with the nut and engagement ring axially interengaging for varying the overall axial length of the nut and body as the nut is rotated relative to the body, with the body and engagement ring interengaging for limiting rotation of the engagement ring relative to the body, and with the drive ring and body interengaging for urging the engagement ring and nut into engagement for limiting rota

  • Patent number: 5580278
Abstract: An accessory for an electrical connector, known as a backshell adapter assembly, includes a coupling nut and a generally tubular adapter body. The adapter body is axially secured relative to the coupling nut without the use of a retaining ring by flaring one end of the coupling nut and forming an annular shoulder about the inner circumference of the flared end. The annular shoulder formed on the flared end of the coupling nut cooperates with an annular shoulder formed on the adapter body to provide axial securement of the coupling nut relative to the adapter body once the flared end is crimped. An important aspect of the invention is that the backshell adapter assembly can be used as a stand-alone device or can be used with one or more accessories, such as a grounding spring and an antidecoupling ring for custom applications.

  • Patent number: 5192219
Abstract: The invention provides a locking coupling having a hollow cylindrical body with a circumferential ring of axially extending radial teeth, a first coaxial collar having a plurality of spring fingers extending axially therefrom with inwardly directed, axially extending teeth overlying the teeth on said body and a coaxial locking collar slidably mounted on said body between two positions and having a region overlying the spring fingers, the locking collar forcing the teeth on the spring fingers into engagement with the teeth on the body in one position and permitting the teeth to become disengaged in the other position.

  • Patent number: 4834667
Abstract: A connector accessory for electrical connectors containing a detent or locking member or members for preventing disconnection from an attached connector when the assembly is subjected to vibration, shock or other stresses. The accessory consists of a coupling and a body containing the accessory which in one form is a detent and in another form serves as a detent in one direction of rotation and a permanent or temporary lock in the other direction of rotation. The coupling is provided with screw threads to engage an accessory thread at the rear of an electrical connector and the body contains features which are required to provide proper mechanical and environmental interface characteristics to mate with various electrical connectors, i.e., teeth, splines, seals, etc.
