  • Publication number: 20230220595
Abstract: The product manufactured according to the method is waterproof and provided with a cavity, such as a glove, shoe, or a backpack. Initially, a structure is made in the shape of the product by stitching portions of a laminated material attached together by corresponding seams. The stitched structure is then turned inside out and a thermally-curable silicone compound material, in uncured liquid state, is applied on the seams. The structure with applications is then simultaneously subjected to heating with a curing temperature of the material, and to a vacuum operation with pumping means that suck in air from outside the structure with applications into the structure and extract it outside. The invention also relates to a system for manufacturing according to the method.

  • Publication number: 20070217673
Abstract: A device and method for detecting the presence or absence of an object which has repetitive motion are disclosed comprising, a receiver for receiving a signal from the object, and circuitry for determining the presence or absence of the object to be detected, wherein the circuitry records the signal from the receiver as a pattern of data during at least part of the repetitive motion of the object, compares the data with a previously recorded data pattern and, produces an output signal based on the comparison. The signal may be received during discrete time intervals, and may be light which can be transmitted with varying intensity. The circuitry may determine the value of signal received at a receiver and produce a binary value. The signal received at the receiver can be reflected from the object to be detected.

  • Patent number: 7039046
Abstract: The present invention reduces the cost of a minimally configured network device by providing a network device with a distributed switch fabric. Such a network device locates a portion of the switch fabric functionality on each forwarding card allowing the minimal network device configuration to include less than the entire switch fabric functionality. The cost of the minimal configuration is, therefore, reduced allowing network service providers to more quickly recover the initial cost of the network device. As new services are requested, additional functionality, including both forwarding cards and universal port cards may be added to the network device to handle the new requests, and the fees for the new services may be applied to the cost of the additional functionality. Consequently, the cost of the network device more closely tracks the service fees received by network providers.

  • Publication number: 20050167619
Abstract: The present invention teaches a method and apparatus for making measurement of an object on a machine, such as a machine tool, using an optical measuring apparatus which includes a light source for generating a beam of light which is incident on a detector. A detection signal is generated within the detector each time the beam is interrupted. The duration and/or frequency of the detection signals are evaluated and an output signal is emitted from the detection only if a further detection signal is present within the detector in a specified time interval from the generation of an earlier detection signal.

  • Publication number: 20050161622
Abstract: This invention relates to the detection of tool (50) and other items used on machines by use of a detector (5). An emitter (10) emits a beam of laser light (20) and sensor (30) is used to determine the presence or absence of a tool (50) when the tool is positioned in the beam. If any light is present at the sensor (30) within a predetermined time period then the tool must be broken and the output of the detector is latched. Thus if a broken tool is present and contamination obstructs the beam then this is ignored provided some light is sensed.

  • Patent number: 6868092
Abstract: The present invention provides a network device including a central timing subsystem for distributing one or more timing reference signals including a main timing signal and an embedded timing signal. Embedding one timing signal within another reduces the routing resources necessary to route the timing signal(s) within the network device. In addition, one central timing system, as opposed to two or more, may be used to provide multiple different synchronous clock signals. In one embodiment, the main timing signal is used for network data transfer while the embedded signal is used at least for processor synchronization. Consequently, a separate central timing subsystem is not required for generation and distribution of processor timing reference signals, and separate routing resources are not required for the processor timing reference signals. In addition, separate local timing subsystems for both the central timing and processor timing are not necessary.

  • Patent number: 6658579
Abstract: The present invention provides a network device including redundant, synchronous central timing subsystems (CTSs) and local timing subsystems (LTSs) including control circuits for automatically selecting between reference signals from both central timing subsystems. Automatically selecting between reference timing signals allows each LTS to quickly switchover from a failing or failed reference timing signal to a good reference timing signal. Quick switchovers prevent data corruption errors that may result during slow switchovers where a failing or failed reference signal is used for a longer period of time prior to the switch over. In addition, since each LTS independently monitors its received reference timing signals, a problem on one reference timing signal is quickly detected by the LTS and the LTS switches over to the good reference timing signal regardless of whether any other LTSs detect a problem with their received reference timing signals.

  • Patent number: 6658580
Abstract: The present invention provides a network device including redundant, synchronous central timing subsystems (CTSs) each having a voltage controlled timing circuit for receiving a constant master voltage signal and variable slave voltage signal. Each CTS also includes a control logic circuit for selecting the constant master voltage signal for use by the voltage controlled timing circuit when the CTS is master and for selecting the variable slave voltage signal when the CTS is slave. Using a constant master voltage signal eliminates the need for a separate master oscillator in each CTS. Oscillators are typically expensive, consume significant space on the printed circuit board and have location restrictions on where they may be placed on the printed circuit board.
