  • Patent number: 8863827
Abstract: A jet pump and method of using the jet pump for removing fluids and solids from a conduit. The jet pump is adapted for use with a spoolable multi-string tubing system. The jet pump may be deployed rapidly and is suitable for temporary installation. The method may be used to reestablish flow in watered out and sanded off wells, or to test wells. The jet pump is adapted to remove wellbore fluid, which may be removed in combination with power fluid. The spoolable multi-string tubing system includes two or more substantially parallel conduits, allowing power fluid and return fluid to flow in separate conduits. Preferred embodiments provide additional functionality by inclusion of jetting elements, sensing elements, back-pressure valves, and auxiliary tubing strings or communication members in the spoolable multi-string tubing system.

  • Patent number: 8459965
Abstract: A tubing member for use in well operations comprises a solid core extruded casing surrounding a production tubing passage arranged to receive produced fluids from a well therethrough and one or more auxiliary conduits arranged for communicate with well equipment. The casing is rectangular in cross section having a pair of opposed flat sides which can be wound onto a spool such that the flat sides are parallel to an axis of rotation of the spool. A longitudinal extending central axis of the production tubing and of each auxiliary conduit are situated spaced apart from one another along a common diametrical axis arranged to be parallel to the flat sides of the casing and the spool axis. The unitary casing provides good protection for electrical lines, hydraulic lines and other communication lines in the conduits alongside production tubing in a low cost and easy to manufacture tubing member.

  • Publication number: 20060248743
Abstract: A tubing counter for counting coiled tubing inserted into a well includes an outer housing having a through passage for receiving the coiled tubing therethrough. In some embodiments, pressure rated connectors at both of the ends of the outer housing sealably connect the outer housing in series between the coiled tubing injector head and the outer casing of the well. A plurality of counting wheels are rotatably supported within the outer housing for rolling engagement along coiled tubing inserted through the outer housing while a counting mechanism records a number of rotations of each counting wheel independently of the other wheels to minimize counting errors. Locating the counter below the injector head and below the tubing stripper ensures that the tubing is cleaner and less likely to slip in contact with the counting wheels while also accounting for stretching of the tubing for more accurate measurement.
