  • Publication number: 20020104817
Abstract: A cap is provided for covering a port of a fluid administration assembly. The cap comprises a top wall, a side cylindrical wall defining an opening into which said port can be inserted, and an inside surface of the top and side wall which defines a chamber. The cap further comprises a handle extending from said top wall and a plug extending from the inside surface of said top wall within said chamber.

  • Patent number: 6267154
Abstract: A container for holding a concentrated drug for a mixing system includes a barrel with a cover structure including a delivery passage at a first end and a closing structure at an opposite, second end. A female Luer lock fitting defines the delivery passage at the first end. The closing structure and the female Luer lock fitting can each be formed integrally with the barrel, or the closing structure can be a slidable stopper. The closing structure may also include a holder. The holder is constructed to move between two positions. In the first position, the holder is in a elevated position on the second end of the barrel. The barrel can vent vapor around the cover piece. In the second position, the holder is depressed onto the barrel and it cannot vent vapor. The cover structure may include a snap-on cover piece to fit over the first end. The cover piece includes the female luer lock fitting. The cover piece functions similar to the holder.

  • Patent number: 5449350
Abstract: A flow control device for a liquid agent administration apparatus includes a body. The body has an inlet port, an outlet passage, and a flow control orifice between the inlet port and outlet passage. A deflection surface is located within the outlet passage and is spaced from the orifice to be impinged by a stream of the liquid discharging from the orifice.

  • Patent number: 5409477
Abstract: A solution administration apparatus for patient care, for use with an associated solution administration system, which apparatus includes a laser drilled orifice flow control device to provide a controlled, predetermined flow rate of solution to the patient. The apparatus includes a tubing set and a laser drilled orifice flow restrictor, formed in a body, and in fluid communication therewith, for use with an associated fluid supply container. The system provides a controlled, predetermined flow rate of solution to the patient which is independent of, and relatively constant over minor variations in solution supply pressure and viscosity.

  • Patent number: 5205821
Abstract: A terminal reservoir capping device according to the present invention includes a hollow member having first and second open ends. A first plug seals the first open end such that the plug is inwardly displaceable into the hollow member. A second plug seals the second open end. A chamber is defined by the hollow member and the first and second plugs. A reservoir of disinfecting fluid or therapeutic drug is provided in the chamber. Axially extending from the first end of the hollow member is a mechanism for engaging and advancing the tube connector into the chamber so as to inwardly displace the first plug into the chamber. The plug self-releases and allows dispersal of the reservoir fluid into the tube connector.

  • Patent number: 5102394
Abstract: A catheter assembly for intravenous therapy includes a protective shield to protect health care personnel from inadvertent injury. The protective shield can be selectively positioned on the assembly to permit manipulation of a needle member of the assembly so that the needle member can be withdrawn from an associated tubular catheter member. After the needle member is withdrawn, it is received within the shield member, and is substantially enclosed therein so that the needle member can disposed of without injury to personnel.
